CMS will host a cross country district meet Monday afternoon. If you haven't had a chance to see our runners, come out and watch.
Thanks to our AVID students for hosting a really fun college week. Loved seeing all the college gear around campus. We want to continue the fun for the month of October. Check out the special days we have planned for the remainder of the month. We hope the students have fun with this!
The 1st quarter is wrapping up on Oct. 18th and report cards will be posted in HAC by 6pm on October 24th. Parent conference day is October 28th. If you want a conference with a specific teacher, please reach out via email to that teacher. The teachers will also do their best to coordinate schedules for multiple teachers to meet with you when requested.
There is no school Monday, October 14th. Teachers will be in professional development courses.
Have a wonderful weekend,
Dr. E
Yearbook Dedication Ads
Are you looking for a creative way to tell your student, “I love you and I’m proud of you”?
Place a recognition ad in the yearbook!
This is a one-time opportunity for 8th grade students only. In the future, seeing your message will bring a smile as they remember your love and support during these important years. And, it’s easy to create a recognition ad. Go to this website https://jostensadservice.com?REF=A01115764, create an account, and design your ad for your student. You get to pick the photos and text you would like in your ad, format will be adjusted to match the theme and colors of the yearbook.
We can even keep the ad a secret until the yearbook is distributed (but only if your son or daughter isn’t on the yearbook staff).
Reserve a space for your ad today to say how proud you are. Like the yearbook, your message will be a permanent memory. Deadline is November 1st!
Technology Club Announcement
CMS students can join the Technology Club and learn how to program a robot and compete in different challenges. The Technology Club will begin with the Coder Z competition. It is open to every student and is for all levels of programmers, girls and boys, from beginners to advanced. Students will compete against other CMS students and possibly other McKinney middle schools and schools in Texas. Watch the Coder Z video to learn more. See the brochure for more information.
Parents can sign up students by completing this form. Students will come to Room E122 after school on October 10 to begin CoderZ Bootcamp. Space will be limited to use computers at school and will be open to students who parents have completed the form first. Computers will be used in E122 on Thursday’s from 3:45 to 4:25. Two other labs will be opened on Thursday’s if needed. Bootcamp ends on October 17. The Competition opens on October 28 and closes on November 7. Once students have been assigned a “class” in Coder Z, they can compete from home or any other computer at any time! Please email Mrs. Buchmiller at lbuchmiller@mckinneyisd.net with any questions.

Pep Rally Day
We always remind parents that pep rallies are for students first, so we seat students first. Parents are welcome to fill in seats once all students are in the gym. Some pep rallies are standing room only for the adults so be prepared to stand along the side of the gym if seating is full.

Lunch for Students
Due to a variety of safety concerns related to food allergies and campus safety and security, McKinney ISD does not allow students to utilize food delivery services at school. This includes services such as Uber Eats, Doordash and direct restaurant delivery. However, parents/guardians will still be permitted to drop food off for their children.
This rule does not apply to deliveries organized by McKinney ISD faculty or a teacher serving as a sponsor of a student organization. We appreciate your cooperation in our efforts to create a safe and secure environment for students.
Parents may only deliver food for your own child. We can't accept group deliveries.
Want to Volunteer?
If you would like to volunteer at CMS, please complete the Volunteer Background Check. If you have been approved in the past, you have until September to update your application for the new school year. You must complete a new form each year. Please note that if you do not complete the proper paperwork, you cannot help chaperone field trips or help with the school in any way. We need and want your help, so please fill out the forms now.
