Message From Principal Slattery
Dear Cavalier Families,
Congratulations, we made it to Winter Break. It has been a challenging year thus far; however, CHMS has much to celebrate. For starters, we have been able to remain in school as we continue to battle the COVID Pandemic. As an educator and a parent, I have learned that being in school with in-person learning is crucial to both the educational and social/emotional development of our students. I’m so proud of the work that our students and teachers have accomplished this first half of the school year. We had 502 students make the A/B Honor Roll and 475 students make the all As Honor Roll. We did not see these great numbers last year in a remote setting. Our students having a D or an F this year has been cut to more than half compared to where we were last year in a remote setting.
We were able to complete our first school wide Paideia Seminar as students discussed the poem, “We Wear the Mask.” We have many clubs up and running during both before and after school. We have Mathletes and Robotic teams winning trophies. We completed a fall sports season while celebrating with our students during Spirit Week. The basketball season is under way and last week our students put on amazing band and orchestra concerts. School pride seems to be at an all-time high, and our fabulous Cav Crew is leading that charge. We have much to be thankful for as our students are beginning to live normal school lives again.
We have also met challenges along the way. We have seen a rise in poor student behavior. We have had to deal with TicTok challenges, online bullying, racism, and school shooter threats. I will be communicating out in January the adjustments we are making to counteract these challenges, while teaching our students good citizenship in a healthy and safe environment.
There is still a lot of work to be done this year. Middle School has its challenges as our students continue to learn and grow. We will continue this journey together, as we want to provide our students with a safe learning environment where all students can thrive. So have a wonderful and restful Winter Break.
Sincerely,
Brian Slattery

MESSAGE FROM PTO PRESIDENT - ANGELA KENNEDY
Dear Cavalier Families,
I hope everyone’s holiday season is off to a wonderful start! This month, the PTO was able to help our staff get in the holiday spirit by providing a delicious luncheon from Chuy’s and hosting the Annual Cookie Exchange. Enjoy the pictures below!
Thank you to all of our parents who baked dozens of tasty and beautiful cookies! The PTO would not be able to host these events without your help. For that, we are truly grateful for your generous hearts.
I hope each and every Community House family has a very joyous holiday season and a very happy start to the new year! I look forward to the fun and excitement to come to our school in 2022!
Sincerely,
Angela Kennedy
