The Hall Way...
This past week Mrs. Spear and I put on our masks and gloves and went into the building to take photos and record video to help us create a virtual orientation for our incoming 6th graders. It felt strange to have to split up and social distance from her as we have not been in the same place since our last day of school in the building. As I walked the empty hallways thinking about all of the things that I would want to share with these new Warhawks, I was reminded how amazing our school is. My heart is sad that our students, staff, and families do not get to end the year in person with field trips, olympic days, and of course our promotion for our 8th graders. At the same time, my heart is full with knowing that our building being closed has not stopped the Warhawks from connecting, persevering, working hard, and being kind. Students are still learning, we are connecting with them in numerous ways, we will celebrate our 8th graders with a virtual promotion, and I know that we will finish the year strong. As I walked the empty hallways and peeked in classrooms looking for inspiration, it was everywhere. If the walls of Northwood could talk, what would they say? They would share words of encouragement and the values that make Northwood amazing. As the walls spoke to me, they reminded me why I am so proud to be the principal of our school.
Stay healthy, safe, and take care of each other. We are all in this together. Warhawks, We Got This!
-Mrs. Hall

Student Locker Belonging Pickup is scheduled for May 15th
Over the next several weeks, custodians will be cleaning out student lockers and labeling bags with personal items enclosed. The middle schools will be offering a day to pick up materials if you wish to gather student belongings before the fall.
Please know this pick up in May is not a requirement, rather an opportunity to get materials before the start of next school year. If you do not want to participate, we will store your student's belongings safely over the summer and return them in the fall.
To pick up your student’s bag and ensure the items will be ready for a contact free pick-up, the form linked below must be completed. Please fill out the form linked below by Friday, May 8th, at 5:00 pm.
Filling out the form linked below will allow you to reserve a time to pick up these items at the school on Friday, May 15th. The form will allow you to select a preferred time slot and help us organize materials and expedite the pick up process. Cars will use the north entrance of the building and form a line into the circle drive. We will have signs and staff that will help direct you towards our gym entrance where a staff member will place the items in your trunk.
Item Pick Up Time Slots on Friday, May 15th:
11:00 am-1:00 pm
1:00 pm-3:00 pm
3:00 pm-5:00 pm
5:00 pm-6:00 pm
We will not be collecting any materials from students at this time. Library books, textbooks, and curricular materials will be collected in the fall. For 8th graders, WNHS will collect your curricular materials in the fall, and send them over to Northwood. The same will go for those 6th graders entering Northwood. We will collect elementary materials and send them over to our feeder elementary schools.
A message from 7th grade:
7th Grade Warhawks continue to navigate their way through the US Constitution with Mr. Laidig. Please ask your students to quiz you on the many qualifications on becoming a US Representative or a US Senator.
In science, we are wrapping-up with our introduction to evolution. A process by which the populations on Earth change over time. Furthermore, this process helps us understand the variations that we see in organisms around us and provides evidence of the past.
8th Grade Promotion Ceremony on May 20th
We are excited to announce that 8th grade promotion will still be taking place digitally on Wednesday, May 20th. Information will be coming soon about how to view the promotion ceremony as we honor our 8th graders and send them off to high school. The ceremony will be posted on YouTube at 7:00 pm Wednesday, May 20th.
We would love to have our 8th graders be a part of this digital ceremony. We are requesting that our 8th grade students share a short 15-30 second clip of their favorite memory of Northwood or their 8th grade year. Please have your student submit their clip using the link below if they wish to be part of the ceremony.

NMS eLearning Schedule
Our continued focus during this time is on learning and sustaining the home-school connection that we have developed throughout the entire school year. We hope the block schedule allows us to support and meet the needs of families with different dynamics. The curriculum and lessons during eLearning are meant to continue our strong relationships, prepare students for the next year, and keep them engaged in learning.
What are the eLearning Plans for the week?
Students should still be logging into Canvas as all teachers are creating Canvas Announcements, Assignments, etc for lessons for the corresponding “A” or “B” Days.
