Scott 6th Grade Center's Motto- "We Enter to Learn and Leave to Achieve"
What Has Been Happening in Mrs. Fogg's Classes?
We are on Topic 3 in math! Students have been engaged in activities and lessons that involve numeric and algebraic expressions. New vocabulary is being introduced. Some of these words are variables, terms, coefficients, variables, like terms, constants, exponents, LCM and GCF. Students recently made a foldable book to help them with these terms.
Students enjoyed a game of Jeopardy halfway through our unit. It was an exciting and interactive way for the students to review what was learned so far.
District benchmark testing has been in full swing. We just finished our MAP tests last week. The students made amazing progress. I am looking forward to seeing how they do in the spring when we test for the last time this year!
Door Decorating Contest
Students and Staff worked together to decorate the classroom doors at Scott with reminders of our PBIS Expectations of Respect, Ownership, Courage, Kindness, and Safety. Our Related Arts teachers judged the doors for a prize. Congratulations to Mrs. Fogg and her WIN class! They earned time in our PBIS room playing Foosball, Ping Pong, and board games.

Student of the Month For January... Andersyn Slover
We had numerous students nominated this month, which is a wonderful problem to have! After much debate, our winner for January's Student of the Month is...Andersyn Slover!
Many teachers reached out to support Andi's nomination. Here are some of the things they said: She is such a hard worker, very helpful. Her nickname is Smiley with our whole team because that's all she does. She is such a positive soul. Andi would be a great selection. She is a hardworking student with a positive attitude.
Congratulations, Andersyn, we are so proud of you. Keep up the great work!
January's Employee of the Month
We want to congratulate our Employee of the Month for, January, Dr. Young. Dr. Young has been such a positive addition to our Scott team and the kids really enjoy her. Spanish class is a tough sell for some students but she has engaged them and brought light to the building. She has reached out and helped at every opportunity since her arrival. We can all agree Dr. Young is very talented and we're all extremely glad she's here.
We also want to congratulate our runners up: Mrs. Farley, Mrs. Holdsworth, and Mrs. Lesniak. All three staff members were given a gift card to treat themselves at Dunkin Donuts. We have an amazing team here at Scott!
Kindness Challenge
February 1st was the kickoff for a kindness challenge for our students. This will last for the month of February.
The students were given a checklist. The challenge is to complete the kindness acts and get the signatures of the people for whom they do the acts for, to verify that it was done. Papers will be collected each Friday by Student Council and hearts will be placed on the wall for each category each student completes.
If the students fill the cafeteria wall with hearts, they will earn a movie. When they complete all of the tasks, the students will place their sheet in the box in the cafeteria for a random drawing for an individual prize at the end of each week. Five students will win each week.
The overall goal, of course, is to add more love and kindness to our amazing school and to show our students just how much helping others can provide a warm, fuzzy feeling that wants to be repeated.
Black History Month
February is Black History Month. At Scott we will be celebrating and learning about a different influential person each morning. On Fridays there will be a trivia question to answer for a prize. This week we learned about Carter G. Woodson and Frederick Douglass. Students and staff are looking forward to learning about and appreciating these important historical figures.
February's Artist of the Month- Edlyn Salgado
