SPOTLIGHT: Your Voice Matters: Family Survey for School Improvement
Attention all Beall Families!
We need your help! The deadline for completing this survey has been extended to March 22. As of last week, only 14 Beall families had completed the survey. Please take a couple of minutes to click on the link below and share your thoughts.
To access the survey, please click on the link provided below: https://parentsurvey.mcpsmd.org/
We appreciate your commitment to our school community and value the unique perspectives each family brings. Together, we can continue to build a positive and thriving educational environment.
Thank you for your time and input. We look forward to hearing from you!
Outdoor Eating Option Returns
Beginning on March 12, students will have the choice to eat outdoors or indoors. This hybrid model allows us to meet the preferences of many students. Similar to our fall plan, outdoor dining will be available daily when weather and safety allow us to offer this choice. Students will be able to pick-up a cushion (donated by Beall PTA) and select a seat in the front parking lot (bus loop). Students who chose to eat indoors will be assigned to their teacherβs specific table. Students may change their preference (indoor or outdoor) each day, but students may not change their preference during the lunch period. In other words, if a student chooses to eat outside, they are expected to remain outside until they are dismissed. We encourage families to take a moment this week to discuss personal preferences. We will continue to monitor and review our lunch plans and make adjustments as needed.
If students choose the privilege of outdoor dining, they are expected to remain seated throughout the lunch period and follow established guidelines and routines. We know that many students enjoyed this opportunity in the fall and look forward to the weather cooperating in order to resume this option daily.
Kindergarten Registration and Orientation
This yearβs registration process for incoming kindergarten students will soon be available on our website. All forms and directions can also be found on the MCPS Website (click here). Parents are encouraged to register their online through the ParentVue Portal starting March 18. If needed, you are welcome to schedule an appointment for assistance, beginning March 18, by calling the main office. Our registrar, Ms. Astrid Paz, would be happy to assist you.
Parents of children who will turn 5-years old by September 1, 2024, can download and complete all registration forms from the Beall website. Forms can then be turned in to the main office beginning the week of April 2 or submitted electronically (beginning March 18). No appointment is necessary to submit paperwork. Our website will identify specific office hours. Unlike previous years, there will not be a designated Orientation Day for incoming students. We will provide an information session for parents and are seeking to plan activities that will help incoming students meet other students or visit a classroom. Additional information will be provided at a later date. Children who turn 5 years old before September 1, 2024, should be enrolled in the upcoming kindergarten class. If you need assistance, or would prefer to pick-up a registration packet, please contact the main office (240-740-1220). You may use MCPS's School Locator Assignment Tool to confirm that you live in the Beall school district.
Change of School Assignment (COSA)
Student Transfer Application Season Begins February 1, 2024. Montgomery County parents/guardians who wish to request a Change of School Assignment (COSA) for their children may begin the process during the upcoming transfer season, which starts in February. All COSA requests must be submitted no later than April 2, 2024. The transfer process begins in the home school, where parents/guardians may request the Change of School Assignment Information Booklet that contains the COSA form, describes the process and provides useful information. Beginning the first week of February, the COSA booklet will be available in schools and online. Click here for more information.
New for the 2024-2025 COSA transfer process:
- COSA request applications now can be submitted online instead of the traditional paper form. When an application is submitted online, a βreceiptβ email notification will be sent to the parent/guardian submitting the request shortly after the administrative team of the studentβs assigned home school receives the application. If the request is successfully completed online, a paper form submission is not necessary. The link to the online COSA request form can be found on the Student Transfers website.
Attention 5th Grade familiesβ If you attend Beall on a COSA, you will automatically be assigned to your home school for 6th grade. An approved transfer is required in order to remain in the Richard Montgomery Cluster. Please feel free to contact the main office if you have questions.
Schedule Change- April 22! Mark your calendars.
Monday, April 22 is now an asynchronous learning day and will be used as a make-up instructional day for students. Students will be sent home with assignments to complete independently.
Asynchronous learning describes educational activities and assignments that engage students in learning without live instruction or use of technology.
