By: Justin Fang
Definition
(in US copyright law) the doctrine that brief excerpts of copyrighted material may, under certain circumstances, be quoted verbatim for purposes such as criticism, news reporting, teaching, and research, without the need for permission from or payment to the copyright holder.
When We Use it
Fair Use of Media is always being applied 24/7. You may not copy anything down for your own use unless it's being used for the activities such as teaching, new reporting, and etc. There are multiple occasions when you are allowed to copy one's work, such as using information you found in a school presentation.
How We use it
Fair use of media is used when you ever take information or a quote and use it for school for example. It states you are allowed to use it without the need for permission, but citations may be necessary.
Why we use it
We use this in order to learn more about the subject and it also helps with credibility on the article. By having information cited from a credible website makes your presentation look more reliable.
