What an incredible couple of weeks! Our book fair total was $12,229.31! Thank you to all who have purchased and made our event so successful. If you couldn’t make it to Dunning this past week or if you really want to try to get that “hard to find” book - we have great news... there is still time to purchase through the online book fair! The online book fair will go until Dec 7th and all items will be delivered to the school in 5-10 business days and will go home in backpacks. (If you prefer to pick up your order at the school please contact Beth Last at bethlast@ymail.com)

Fostering a Love for Reading
Brett Berkman, Literacy Coach
One of the best ways to foster a love for reading in your child is to let them see YOU reading!
Nora Krug of the Washington Post writes, "How do you foster a love of reading for pleasure? The simple answer is to read — yourself, with and to your kids — whenever you can. Make books a part of your routine, your home decor, your conversations."
As a parent myself, I know that finding time to read is a challenge. My “whenever I can” is at night before I go to sleep, in medical waiting rooms where I enjoy fun magazines, and the few times on the weekend where I find myself with a bit of free time. If you have any questions, would like book recommendations, or have your own suggestions about how to fit reading in to a busy life, please email me at bberkman@framingham.k12.ma.us. I’d love to hear from you!
Happy Reading!
BOOK SWAP
Have you read so many books that your bookshelves are filled to the brim with books and you need something new to read over winter break? We have just the solution...
The Dunning Winter Vacation Book Swap
Here is how it works:
- From December 10-13: Bring your gently used children’s books to Room 27 (Grades 3-5) or Mrs. Berkman’s Room (Grade K-2). Students will get one ticket for each book they bring in.
- From December 17-19: Every student will use their tickets to swap for books to take home!
Thank you for your help!
We want ALL Dunning students to have new-to-them books to read over vacation!
We care about your children and want them to be happy, comfortable, and safe before and after school, and when playing outside at recess. Please make sure your child is coming to school with appropriate jackets, hats, gloves, scarves, etc. for the cold months ahead. Aso, please label everything so that when things turn up in our lost and found, we can return them to your children. Thank you
SPRING 2019 MCAS SCHEDULE
Below is the Spring 2019 MCAS testing schedule. We will be testing each morning on the testing days. It is important that we have excellent attendance during all testing sessions, so please avoid making appointments during the school day if at all possible. Each session starts at the beginning of the school day.
It is important for all students to be IN ATTENDANCE and ON TIME.
Winter coat/snow clothes drive
Winter has arrived! Did you scramble to find snow clothes to fit your kids this morning? For some of our families the scramble is more of a struggle and we would like to provide some assistance in keeping all of our Pandas warm and dry this winter. If you have any kid sized snow clothes (hats, mittens, boots, snow jackets and snow pants) that are clean and usable please help us get them to the families that need them! There will be a collection box in the lobby.
Please only donate useable kid-sized snow clothes!
THANK YOU!!

CARE & SHARE
The Jane Shapiro Care and Share began in 1995 as a Dunning School community service project. Each month a specific food item is collected at the school to help keep A Place to Turn's shelves stocked. What a great sharing and learning project! Donations are gathered up by the students and then with help from staff, they are delivered to A Place to Turn. Learn more about A Place to Turn here.
Thank you for your contributions to A Place to Turn during the year. Our monthly food collection makes a huge difference in our community, while teaching our students the importance of giving.
