"Learning to stand in somebody else’s shoes, to see through their eyes, that’s how peace begins. And it’s up to you to make that happen. Empathy is a quality of character that can change the world.” – Barack Obama
Message from Kent
Having empathy is a key ingredient to becoming the best person you can be. You can practice empathy by:
- listening to someone rather than trying to talk to them
- asking someone how they are feeling if you think there is something wrong
- learning about people from different backgrounds and cultures
- showing concern and care for others
- paying attention to the needs of others
- getting to know someone better instead of judging them
Empathy is easy to say, but hard to do. The world will be a better place because of you!
- Kenneth Brewster, Art Teacher
- Kimberly Gomez, Resource Aide
- Nakeisha Kemp, SAILS Aide
- Isabel Guajardo, Cafeteria Manager
Be sure to welcome them to the Rosa Parks Elementary Team!!!

October 11 Professional Learning Survey
The link below is for a survey for all teachers that participated in any summer learning. The data gathered from the survey will help professional learning creators analyze the effectiveness of summer trainings and provide them feedback to determine relevant topics for future professional learning opportunities to support teacher implementation. Please distribute the link to teachers during the October 11th Campus Professional Learning. Allow approximately 15 minutes for teachers to complete the survey. If time does not allow for the survey to be completed during professional learning, please distribute the survey via email.
Fill | Summer PD Implementation Survey The purpose of this survey is to collect data and information on implementation of learning from summer professional development in order to determine future learning and supports. Red Ribbon Week
During the week of October 28, 2019 – November 1, 2019, we will celebrate Red Ribbon Week here at Rosa Parks. Here is some background information about Red Ribbon Week. Since its beginning in 1985, the Red Ribbon has touched the lives of millions of people around the world. In response to the murder of DEA Agent Enrique Camarena, angered parents and youth in communities across the country began wearing Red Ribbons as a symbol of their commitment to raise awareness of the killing and destruction caused by drugs in America. In 1988, NFP sponsored the first National Red Ribbon Celebration. Today, the Red Ribbon serves as a catalyst to mobilize communities to educate youth and encourage participation in drug prevention activities. Please see the flyer with daily themes. We encourage staff and students to participate!
