Spring Pictures Thursday, March 16
Our spring picture day is Thursday, March 16, 2017. Students will not be photographed unless they bring an order form on picture day. There are many pose options on the order form this year. Props will be provided, however a student may choose to bring one small prom from home if they choose. A copy of the order form/envelope was sent home with students. We do have a few extra in the office, and a copy is attached to this message. There is an option to order online and pay with a debit or credit card. You would go to the website below to place your online order. You have the option to pre-pay online or by sending in cash/check in the envelope provided on the order form. You may also check the box on the envelope that indicates you are not ordering a picture package now, but you would like to have your child's picture taken for possible future orders.
In review, students will only get their picture taken if the return a pre-paid envelope, you have requested their picture be taken for a future order, or you have pre-paid online. Please contact the TZ office or Pettit Photography with any questions.

Students will bring home packets today (3-8-17) for the Yankee Candle Fundrasier. Sale is March 8-20. See attached flyer for more information. You may also order online. New App this year...makes it even easier to sell to your family and friends. Check out the information on the attached flyer. Money should be collected at the time of taking the order. Checks should be made out to TZ PTO. One of the roles of the TZ PTO is to provide support to the students and staff of Tzouanakis Intermediate School through fund raising. The TZ PTO provides many different opportunities for families to help support these efforts. The TZ PTO certainly appreciates any support that the TZ families and community may provide, however, we don't expect families to participate in all of the different opportunities. The TZ PTO tries to provided different options that would appeal to different people. The TZ PTO also has the option for parents that would like to just donate and not participate in any of the fundraising opportunities. Students will bring home the candle packets today. Please return the packet if you choose not to participate. Again, we appreciate any support you may or have been able to provide, whether that is with your volunteering at an event or participating in the different fund raising efforts. Respectfully, Mr. Strube and TZ PTO
Congratulations TZ Math Bowl Team!
The Castle Workshops @ TZ 2017
Our TZ 3rd graders have been working on a creative narrative writing and digital storytelling project with their Castle Workshop. We are so grateful to have had the help and support of many individuals on this project. The Castle staff, Author Troy Cummings, and many DePauw faculty and students. We are excited to see the final published digital stories from our third grade students.
The TZ 4th grade students and teachers kicked off their sustainable school garden project recently with the help and support of The Castle program. GHS graduate and Lilly Scholar, Taylor Secrest, is the inspiration behind this project. The TZ 4th grade students will work together with The Castle team from the ground up on this collaborative and inspiring project. We are excited about the possibilities it will bring now and in the future.
Our 5th grade teachers are still in the planning and collaboration stages of their project. Look for more information to come soon about their exciting project.

Volunteer in the Classroom or Field Trip--Need Background Check On File--Good for One Year
At TZ we appreciate parents/guardians that would like to volunteer to assist in the classrooms and/or go on field trips. As a part of any volunteer activity, we must have a cleared background check on file for each person wanting to assist here at school or accompany a class on a field trip.
I wanted to take time to clarify the limited/volunteer background checks. These background checks are free to our volunteers. A limited/volunteer background check is only good for one calendar year. If a volunteer wishes to continue volunteering after one year, they must submit a new application.
A link to the form that needs to be completed and turned in to the TZ office is below. You may also come by the school to complete the form. We do need to have a copy of your driver’s license to process the request.
Again, we appreciate your willingness to volunteer.
Mr. Strube
