A NOTE FROM MRS. ABROMAITIS
Happy Spring! This school year is flying by. The third marking period is done, and we are in the home stretch of the school year. Our students and staff are continuing to set and achieve goals, and we are so proud of them! M-Step is around the corner for all 3rd - 6th graders and the final NWEA assessment will occur in May. Cardinal Camp (Summer School) information is below. Let's work together to prevent summer slide.
We continue to work to build and maintain a culture that is built on kindness, positivity, and gratitude. Speaking of gratitude, I would like to extend special thank you to: Mill Street Station, Seven Ponds Nature Center, Alleyway Boutique, Diamond Dance Expressions, Alen Graham Farmers Insurance, Boy Scouts, Lapeer County Health Department, Dryden Township Police Department and Dryden Township Fire Department, PTA volunteers, Dryden Wesleyan Church Upwards Program, NHS, Trunk or Treat community participants, Child Advocacy Center, Four County Community Foundation, Lapeer County Community Foundation, Lapeer Optimists Club, community members Steve and Nancy Hill, the Dryden Veterans, Katie Gardner of PaperPie (formerly Usborne Books and More), Michigan State University, and LEAF and ELGA Credit Union. We are very fortunate to be part of this AMAZING community of partners.
School safety remains a top priority. In addition to our safety audit, regular meetings, the installation exterior light fixtures, the use of single point entry and exit for guests, having exterior doors locked at all times and monitored at the beginning and end of each day, conducting routine door checks, maintaining consistent pick-up and drop-off routines, utilizing security cameras, participating in trainings for staff and conducting safety drills, continued work on relationships, a renewed association with OK2SAY, and maintaining a strong partnership with local law enforcement, we have also been in classrooms educating students, and our new School Resource Officer began this month. As our most important partner, you can help us at home. Please reinforce making good decisions, being a positive role model, self-management, overall conduct, and school safety with your child. Additionally, please reiterate: If you see/her something, say something to a trusted adult. Finally, please regularly check your student's belongings that go back and forth to school including book bags, outerwear, etc.
We want you to be informed! Please be sure that you update the main office with any changes in your contact information. If you are receiving some of our notifications but not others, you may want to check spam/social/promotion folders and blocked settings. You can always verify that the information the school has is accurate by contacting the main office. We do our best to keep families as informed as possible but are limited to the information we have on file.
Dryden Community Schools is asking voters to consider a bond proposal on May 2, 2023 that will strengthen security measures, replace roofs, upgrade HVAC systems and add air conditioning, replace boilers, upgrade technology, etc. More information can be found below. As Mrs. Finnigan stated in her message a few weeks ago, "please show up at the poles to vote."
We continue to work diligently to support the needs of our Cardinal families. Please reach out if there is something we can do to help.Thank you for entrusting your child's education to us. We appreciate each and every one of you!
