YOUR ARE CAPABLE OF AMAZING THINGS!
Parents,
What an exciting weekend for our students! Our basketball teams finished up a successful season. We also had several students advance to state for MathCounts. I am very proud of all their hard work and look forward to them representing LCMS at the STATE level.
If you would like to buy a Valogram for your child, we will be selling them in the main office Monday-Wednesday. We will have them delivered on Friday. I wish each and every family a Happy Valentine's Day! Enjoy time with your loved ones.

Communities In Schools Gala
I am so proud of our four students who performed at the CIS Gala over the weekend. These ladies and sponsors have worked very hard to make this night happen for our students. This is something that these girls have worked for and this weekend they truly shined and warmed the hearts of many at the Gala. Their families were so very proud of them. It was also exciting to see the families experience an evening so beautiful.
During the 2017-2018 school year, Communities in Schools of the South Plains provided case management services to 2,377 at-risk students. Of those students:
- 99 percent stayed in school;
- 84 percent improved in attendance;
- 96 percent improved their behavior;
- 97 percent had social service needs met;
- 95 percent were promoted to the next grade;
- 97 percent of eligible seniors graduated; and
- 94 percent improved in academics.
Our programs work! However, none of it would be possible without help from community champions like you. Only with your generous support will we be able to broaden our reach to help more students realize their potential.
Please consider giving to this organization as it has impacted out students here at LCMS, as well as the Pirate Community!

2019-2020 Schedule Request Parent Meeting for current 5th, 6th and 7th graders
The scheduling process for the 2019-20 school year has begun, and several meetings are scheduled to help explain the scheduling process and the Pathways program. If students plans on taking any classes that are on the Accelerated or Pre-AP level, it is mandatory that a parent attend one of the following meetings to hear about the requirements and expectations for these classes.
We will host a parent informational meeting regarding schedule requests and the various course paths our students can take for the 2019-20 school year on Tuesday, February 12 at 5:30pm in the LCMS Cafeteria. If you can not make this meeting, LBMS will host the same meeting on Wednesday, February 13 at 5:30pm in our cafeteria.
***I would highly encourage each parent to attend as we will cover questions you will have about your child's 2019-20 schedule.

Eighth Grade Banquet Information
The 8th grade banquet is just around the corner and will be here before you know it. One of the highlights every year for the 8th graders is the banquet slideshow. In order to make this a success, we need your help! Please email a picture of your child when he/she was a baby and along with a current picture of your child to lcmsclassof2023@gmail.com. Please include your child's name in the subject line. We have 203 8th graders and I want to make sure I get everyone's pictures and no child is left out. If you have any other fun pictures of your child from school activities, you are more than welcome to submit those as well. Thank you so much for your help in this! Please feel free to email if you have any questions or concerns. Deadline is April 12.
Email:
Banquet will be Friday, April 26 @ Bella Via Venue
*** There is a dress code in place, so please make sure you are wearing Sunday best to cocktail attire. No PROM dresses allowed, as this is an eighth grade banquet and we want to keep the attire age-appropriate. If you have questions, please have your student show me a picture of outfit and I will approve. Thanks for your understanding.
Semester Final Exemption Criteria
Due to STAAR testing being so late in the semester, we will implement exemptions for the second semester.
In order to exempt a final, a student must have at least an 80 average for the semester and meet the following attendance requirements:
No more than three tardies in any one period (If the class is double-blocked, students cannot have five or more tardies for any one period to be eligible for an exemption)
No more than three absences in any one period of the class the student wants to exempt (If the class is double-blocked, students cannot have five or more absences for any one period to be eligible for an exemption)
Perfect attendance exemptions can be used for a class with a 70 average or above as long as the student has met attendance requirements
Through unit assessment data, students must show progress through the spring semester
Library and Cafeteria fines need to be reconciled before exemptions can be signed for academics
