21st Century Learning
Tools for the enlightened educator
Brave New World
New technologies have given us the potential to revolutionise the classroom and give learners access to an infinite resource. All knowledge is gathered within one interactive library and there is the possibility to engage with any of the 7 billion minds on the planet in order as creative collaborators.
Collaborative Living
When we choose to access the resources or use the tools, we have the choice to remain isolated in our group, in our classroom, or to reach our to the wider world. Effective use of privacy settings, group controls and professional sense will ensure our online work maintains a safe working environment. Educating learners to use access the world outside their four walled classroom is a new responsibility for the 21st century teacher. In learning to collaborate successfully, we are giving back the skills on which humans have been reliant since the advent of our species.

“The illiterate of the 21st century will not be those who cannot read and write, but those who cannot learn, unlearn, and relearn. ”
“By instructing students how to learn, unlearn and relearn, a powerful new dimension can be added to education. Psychologist Herbert Gerjuoy of the Human Resources Research Organization phrases it simply: ‘The new education must teach the individual how to classify and reclassify information, how to evaluate its veracity, how to change categories when necessary, how to move from the concrete to the abstract and back, how to look at problems from a new direction—how to teach himself.'”
