The Mouth
-It also breaks food down chemically because the salivary glands produce saliva, water, and mucus.
-The mouth will digest any type of food because this is the first stop of the digestive system and it travels through the rest of the body.
The Teeth
-The teeth helps you to eat meat, vegetables, and any kind of food you want.
Pharynx
-The GI tract and respiratory tract cross each other.
Esophagus
-It connects the pharynx to the stomach.
-The food then travels to the stomach.
The Stomach
-Mechanical digestion in the stomach happens because the wall is made of muscles that contract in the opposite direction.
-The gastric glands make gastric juices that chemically digest the food.
-Hydrochloric acid lets pepsin to break down proteins into peptides.
The Small Intestines
-This structure digests carbs, fats, completes the digestion of proteins, and absorbs nutrients.
The Pancreas
-Chemical digestion occurs when the pancreatic fluid helps to digest the proteins, fats, and carbs
-Sodium bicarbonate is found in pancreatic fluid and neutralizes the hydrochloric acid.
The Liver
-It produces bile.
The Gall Bladder
Capillaries and Lacteals
-Lacteals absorb fatty acids.
The Large Intestines
-The large intestines absorbs water.
The Rectum and Anus
-The waste is eliminated through the anus.
