RCS Student-Athletes Wrap Up Another Unforgettable Winter Sports Season
The winter athletic season never disappoints! With 214 student-athletes participating, they worked hard to represent RCS with integrity and pride!
“I could not be more proud of how the season went,” said the Director of Athletics, Physical Education, Health & Wellness, Ms. Murphy. “Watching teams throughout the season showed me how much each team grew with each passing week.”
A big thank you goes to the coaches, parents, caregivers, staff, chaperones, transportation team, and most notably, our student-athletes for an exciting season! Each of you plays an important role in supporting and improving our athletic program, and it is greatly appreciated!
Congratulations to our teams on a job well done! Here is a wrap-up of each sport:
Indoor Track & Field Team
The Boys and Girls Indoor Track & Field teams grew in numbers this year, with 24 student-athletes participating. The team competed in 5 league meets and Colonial Council Championships. We also had student-athletes who qualified for and participated in Sectionals and the State Qualifier Meet. The team enjoyed competing in meets on local college campuses, including Union College and Hudson Valley Community College.
A special congratulations to Senior Dominik Paljusaj for earning a Section 2 Championship Title in the Long Jump with a distance of 20 feet, 3 inches, and for breaking the RCS school record in the 45 meters with a time of 5.82! Great work Dominik!
Last but certainly not least, the Boys & Girls were recognized as Scholar-Athlete Teams, meaning throughout the season the team must have 75% of their roster with an average of 90 or higher. Great job!
Best of luck to the 5 seniors: Chloe Canham, Carl-Hanee Coquillon, Jacob Abrams, Dominik Paljusaj, and Austin Rosado! Congratulations to the entire team on a great season!
Wrestling

Season highlights
The team claimed the Colonial Council championship title. They started the season with a hard-fought battle against Cobleskill-Richmondville with a score of 35-32 and improved from there and captured the league title by senior night against Mohonasen beating them 56-17.
Alivia Ortiz, is a tough female wrestler on the mixed competition team for RCS. She went into the All Girls Section 2 Tournament and pinned her way to 1st place. Alivia Ortiz is RCS's first girl to claim a Section 2 Champion Title. She then went on to the NY state tournament and remained on the podium for the 2nd year in a row. Alivia Ortiz is 5th in the state at 145 lbs. Congratulations Alivia on a terrific season!
During the boy's postseason, they went into the class CC tournament (Sectionals) with 14 representatives from RCS. The top 4 from each weight class will go on to the state qualifiers (Section 2 tournament). RCS qualified 9 wrestlers to compete at the Cool Insuring Arena. They were Owen Greene, Jayden Acomb, Aiden Forster, Kaleem Smith, Kaden Potter, Dominik Brozowski, Nick Moyer, Ethan Green and Joe Miller. Four of these men placed top 4 in their weight class and each wrestled their hearts out to get on the podium. Owen Greene placed 4th along with Nick Moyer, Kaden Potter, and Jayden Acomb placing 3rd.
Jayden Acomb and Nick Moyer had the chance to wrestle for what is known as true 2nd. This is the qualifying criteria for states. Jayden Acomb came out victorious and punched his ticket for the state tournament! A freshman at states is all that needs to be said. Well done Jayden!!
Great job for a wonderful season, Team!
