PAHS Teacher Wins Prestigious Award
PASD is proud to announce that Mr. Dan Weinstein has been selected as a Citadel Heart of Learning Award winner! The award is presented to teachers in the Greater Philadelphia region who demonstrate a strong commitment to education and students both in and of the classroom.
Mr. Weinstein has been a math teacher at PAHS for 26 years. He also serves as the coach of the PAHS Swimming & Diving team, and carries a legacy of success of both poolside in the classroom. He was nominated by students, colleagues, parents, and community members, all who recognized his incredible energy, unwavering support, and care and concern for his students.
The Citadel team presented Mr. Weinstein with this prestigious award last Friday, where he was surrounded by students, faculty, and administrators. Congratulations Mr. Weinstein! We couldn't be prouder!
Disability Awareness Week
ASVAB Testing
PAHS will be offering the ASVAB test on Thursday, April 4, 2024.
The ASVAB is an aptitude test that measures developed abilities and helps predict future academic and occupational success. The Armed Services use it as a military entrance exam. If you are interested in taking the exam, the form attached to the bottom of this message must be signed a parent/guardian.
Deadline to register: Friday, March 22nd. Please return the signed registration form to the Counseling Office.
Students must be 16 years of age or older to take this exam during a school administration.
Prom Tickets On Sale This Week
The Junior/Senior Prom is Friday, April 26 from 6PM - 10PM at the Foundry in Phoenixville. Tickets are on sale from 3/18 - 4/3 in the Main Office during lunch periods. Tickets are $110/each, cash or check made payable to "Phoenixville Area High School." Students wishing to bring a guest must have a completed guest form (below) before purchasing tickets. Guests must be high school students in good standing at their own school. Please note that students will have to have all outstanding obligations cleared before they are able to purchase a ticket.
*Tickets can also be purchased over Spring Break in the Main Office: Monday - Thursday 8AM - 12PM*
Freshman Class Trip
The deadline for making your deposit for the Class of 2027 field trip to Hershey Park has been extended to April 1st. A deposit of $25 must be submitted with your permission slip to secure a ticket. Please see Mrs. Son or Mr. Winters if you have any questions.
Class of 2024 Reminders
Class of 2024 Students and Parents-
Here are some reminders/dates for you to keep in mind as we approach spring break:
Scholarships
- Scholarship deadlines are quickly approaching. Most deadlines are within the next 2-3 weeks. Late applications will not be accepted.
- Scholarship opportunities are posted in Naviance for you.
- Scholarships that have an* before and after the title are for PAHS students only.
To View Scholarships in Naviance:
- Log into naviance (office 365 > clever > Naviance)
- Click on colleges (in the top toolbar) > scholarship search (do not filter from this screen- just view the list that appears)
- Click on the title of the scholarship for more details and to access the application. Most are online applications, but there are some paper applications.

Impact Awards
- Nominations are due this Friday, March 22nd.
- If you nominate a staff member you are expected to attend the awards ceremony on May 9, 2024. (The ceremony is for students/staff only).
- Use this FORM to submit your nomination.
- Please see Mr. Smiley or Mr. Rutchauskas with any questions about the Impact Awards.
Community Involvement Program
- Applications are due by the end of the day on April 7th.

Other Dates To Keep In Mind
- April 12th: deadline to register for senior class trip to Hershey Park. Please check your CLASS OF 2024 canvas page for the registration link. Contact Mr. Smiley or Mr. Rutchauskas with any questions about the senior trip.
- May 1st: Class of 2024 Decision Day (more details will be shared after spring break; this event is for students only.)
- May 3rd: Senior Class Trip- please see Mr. Smiley/Mr. Rutchauskas with any questions about the class trip.
- June 3rd-June 7th: Graduation Week! The schedule for this week will be shared shortly.

EVOLVE Art Show
It's art show season. And YOU are invited!
The HS Art Department is hosting an art reception downtown at Ann's Heart. This is our second annual collaboration with Heather Weirich from Ann's Heart and Sean Halloran from Barnstone Art for Kids, featuring important work by our blooming student artists.
Mark your calendar and consider joining us for live music, yummy food, and meaningful art that depicts the creative evolution of our young people.
What: EVOLVE Art Show Party

When: Thursday 4/4 from 4:30-6:30pm
Why: Evolving is a life-long process. One of learning and unlearning. One of perseverance, humility, and gratitude for where we have come and where we are going.

Student-Sponsored Walk Event
Class of '24 Community Involvement Program
The PAHS Community Involvement Program is an optional program for senior students who are in good academic standing. The program provides an opportunity for students to participate in one of the three following options towards the end of the student’s senior year:
- Career study/job shadowing
- Community service
- Part-time work
Students who participate in this program will finish their senior year in May. Students will take their finals mid-May and will not attend school for the remainder of May once finals conclude. No credit or grade is earned for this program.
Eligibility Requirements
- Students must be passing ALL senior year classes and be on track to graduate as of the end of the 3rd marking period (4/5/24).
Dates
- The community involvement program will take place Wednesday, May 15th-Friday, May 31st.
Application
- Students who would like to participate in this program must complete the ONLINE APPLICATION.
- The online student application will close at 11:59 pm on Sunday, April 7, 2024.
- When you submit the student application, your parent/guardian and your supervisor will recevie a copy of your application.
Program Requirements
- Students are to obtain their own community involvement opportunity.
- Students must provide their own transportation to/from. (PAHS will not provide transportation.)
- Students will need to complete a minimum # of hours per week as detailed below. (Weeks run Monday-Sunday.)
- Students will need to list a supervisor and provide the supervisor’s contact information within the student online application.
- This is required for high school staff to be able to reach out to verify hours if needed. The supervisor can be the student’s boss, community member to verify community service or the person they are job shadowing.
Final Exams
- May 13th-May 14th for students participating in the program. (Mr. McAdams will share more information and details regarding the exam schedule in the spring.)
Required Hours per Week
- May 15th-May 19th: 18 hours
- May 20th-May 26th: 27 hours
- May 27th- May 31st: 24 hours
Weekly Verifications
- Students will receive an email each Friday of the program (5/19, 5/26, and 6/2), which will have an online verification form. Students are required to complete the weekly form to verify hours and to share what you did during the week.
