"It's Always a Great Day to be a Davis Dolphin!"
A Message From Our Principal!
Dear Parents and Guardians,
As we enter the month of March, I wanted to take a moment to update you on some important upcoming events and initiatives at our school. With the end of the school year approaching, it's essential to stay informed and engaged in our children's education journey.
**State Testing Preparation:**
As you may know, state testing season is swiftly approaching. These assessments are vital as they provide valuable insights into your child's academic progress and help us tailor our teaching strategies to better support their needs. We have been diligently preparing our students for these assessments through focused instruction and practice sessions in the classroom.
To ensure your child is ready for success, please encourage them to get plenty of rest, eat a healthy breakfast, and arrive at school on time during testing days. Your support at home plays a crucial role in their performance, and we appreciate your partnership in this endeavor.
**School Attendance Matters:**
Regular school attendance is essential for your child's academic success. Each day of instruction is valuable, and absences can significantly impact their learning progress. We kindly ask that you prioritize your child's attendance and strive to schedule appointments and vacations outside of school hours whenever possible.
If your child is feeling unwell, please remember to notify the school promptly. Additionally, if your child is absent, please ensure they complete any missed assignments to stay on track with their learning goals.
**Promoting Positive Student Behavior:**
At our school, fostering a positive and respectful learning environment is one of our top priorities. We believe in the importance of instilling good character traits and promoting positive behavior among our students. As parents and guardians, your support in reinforcing these values at home is invaluable.
Encourage your child to demonstrate kindness, responsibility, and respect towards their peers and teachers. Recognizing and celebrating acts of kindness and good behavior not only reinforces positive habits but also contributes to a supportive and inclusive school community.
In conclusion, I want to express my gratitude for your continued support and partnership in your child's education. By working together, we can empower our students to reach their full potential and thrive academically, socially, and emotionally.
If you have any questions or concerns, please don't hesitate to reach out to our school administration or your child's teacher. We are here to support you every step of the way.
Warm regards,
Kenneth S. Kirkland, Principal
Read Across America Week at Davis!
Our scholars and staff enjoyed an engaging week of literacy learning to celebrate Read Across America Week. We had lots of community volunteers to visit our school to read to our boys and girls. We enjoyed our Literacy Spirit Days. There is a whole new world in a good book, and we loved it!
Small Group Instruction-A Key Part of Our Instructional Plan at Davis!
Our teachers and scholar participate in small group instruction (SGI) every Monday-Thursday at Davis. Small Group instruction allows teachers to provide differentiated instruction in Reading and Math. SGI also lowers our teacher/student ratio as groups of learners are no more than 7-8 students. SGI meets our children at their academic point of need, so that all children receive learning at their level. Want to know where your child is on our learning levels? Please contact your child's teacher and we'll be happy to provide you this information!

School Attendance is Important!
We recently celebrated 118 scholars for Perfect Attendance in February (pic is below of our Perfect Attendance celebration)! School attendance is so important to us at Davis. Without scholars having regular attendance, we are not able to provide the high quality instruction that we strive to give each day. With each day missed, scholars fall behind on acquiring state standards. Also, attendance is a part of our state accountability measure. Needless to say, we love our children and want to see them Monday-Friday all day unless they are ill.
