Mitosis
By: Sam O'Sullivan
What is mitosis?
A type of cell division that results in two daughter cells each having the same number and kind of chromosomes as the parent nucleus, typical of ordinary tissue growth.
The First Stage of Mitosis
Prophase: The parent chromosome cells are duplicated.
The Second Stage of Mitosis
Prometaphase
The Third Stage of Mitosis
Anaphase
The Fourth/Last Stage of Mitosis
Telophase
Why Mitosis is Important?
Mitosis is important because it plays an important role in the growth of our body. It replenishes cells that die, and replaces them with new cells. Without it, we would run out of the cells in our body. We lose about 96 million cells, but mitosis helps replace about 96 million cells.
