The Odyssey
April 12,2024
From the Principal
Hello MQSCA Families-
Greetings! I trust you had a wonderful Easter break with your loved ones. I want to extend my heartfelt congratulations to Dru, Leland, Tristian, and Sophia for receiving the Sacrament of Baptism, and to Dru, for also receiving the Sacraments of First Eucharist and Confirmation.
Let me remind you that the Easter Season lasts 50 days, making it one of the longest seasons on the liturgical calendar, second only to ordinary time. The second Sunday of Easter is popularly known as Mercy Sunday, where Jesus demonstrates the many different capacities of his mercy towards us. The Gospel from this last Sunday includes the story famously called the story of "Doubting Thomas," where Thomas refuses to believe the Apostles' account of Jesus' resurrection until he sees Jesus' wounds.
Moreover, the Gospel also recounts what Catholics receive in the Sacrament of Reconciliation. Jesus breathed on the Apostles and said, "Receive the Holy Spirit." This action is modeled in confirmations worldwide for Catholics who are confirming their faith when a priest lays their hands on the confirmand and then repeats those words, "Receive the Holy Spirit!"
In Christ-
Mr. Lee

Catholic Corner
Seton Value: Service
Saint of the Week: St. Anselm
Virtue of the Week: Giving
Scripture of the Week:
Remember this: Whoever sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and whoever sows generously will also reap generously. Each of you should give what you have decided in your heart to give, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver. Corinthians 9:6-7
Prayer of the Week:
Giving God,
we receive so much from you,
and therefore have much to give.
Help us to share in the blessings of giving
as well as the happiness of receiving,
that your love may be more widely,
shared through Jesus Christ our Lord.
Amen
Safe Enviroment Training

If you plan to volunteer now, or in the future in any way, you MUST have attended a safe environment training. Please reach out to Simone Gaspar if you have questions about safe environment training, if you need to be trained, or if a new background check needs to be conducted. If you think you have been in safe environment training in the past, but are unsure, please double check.
