A Message from Dr. Kaminski
I am thrilled to announce that our new school partnership with Guang Ji Central Elementary in Ningbo, China is officially underway. Over fall break I traveled to Ningbo China with five other HSE principals to formally sign a memorandum of understanding with Principal Haung. Principal Haung is a powerhouse S.T.E.M. principal in his city with over 1.6 billion students. He actually supervises two schools with over 2,000 students each, grades 1-6.
During my visit I represented HSE and BSE by engaging in wonderful conversation with Mr. Haung and his staff. The common practices and challenges we shared were surprising. I'll also note there are vast differences in practices, but can see a grand shift in teaching philosophy occurring. I traveled to China ten years ago and my school partner/visit was much different. Things are evolving and it is clear the Chinese Education Officials desire to learn more about our instructional practices.
Next Monday I'll meet with all BSE Bears to share photos, the beautiful gifts that Mr. Haung presented, and fun facts about my visit. I'll also be presenting China on the BSE broadcast for the remainder of the year. Additionally, I'll be sharing my experience at the November 14th PTO meeting. I hope you can join us.
We will soon kick-off student to student communication and look for a visit from students and teachers in August. Much to plan!
Have a wonderful weekend!
