SOCCER CLEATS
History of Soccer Shoes
You might I joy playing soccer and having fun, but how much do you really know about the cleats? They were discovered in England 1525. King Henry VIII discovered the worlds first pair. They were made by his shoemaker Cornelius Johnson. They where much different than today's soccer cleats. They were ankle high and much heavier than today's. There were metal studs at the bottom of the shoe. The metal studs made them so heavy it it of balance. From the 1940's until the 1960's they were made stronger so they wouldn't fall apart. Later on they made them lighter so it would be able to control the ball and play. In 1969 they were a huge hit. They cost 4 shillings, that's about $100 in today's currency.
It was through his dad's work equipment manager he was first introduced to soccer. When he was 10, he was already recognized as a kid who ate, slept, and drank the game. All he wanted to do was play football. Sometimes when he was supposed to be doing homework he snuck out of his window with a ball. By his early teens, his talent and legend had really grown. He signed with Sporting Portugal in 2001. He was expressing everyone, even his opponents with his footwork and deft skill. Everyone like him so they tried to get an autograph. He had a record fee for a player his age.
I picked soccer cleats because I love soccer. I've played for 10 years. I was really good and everyone cheered me on. I was on of the best.
