Mrs. Zarins ~ Science Teacher
My name is Mrs. Zarins and I'm your new science teacher. I'm happy to be teaching science here at Hewitt, but also at Franklin (math at Franklin too!). Last year I taught science at Maine and South Mountain and prior to that I was a 2nd grade teacher. I really love science and can't wait to talk to you about it. If you ever do a cool observation or experiment at home, be sure to tell me! While I love all science, I especially love space! This means I take many trips to the planetarium and have my telescope out often. When not geeking out at science and math, I like to spend time with my family. I have a husband Joe and two boys, Joey (9th grade at East) and Jackson (7th grade at Horace Mann)... and we all have a best friend, our kitty Blue Button. I can't wait to meet you all and do great science together.

Miriam Marting ~ Float Sub
In my free time I enjoy reading, hiking, and being outdoors. I also spend time volunteering and organizing events for the local chapter of the Down Syndrome Association of Wisconsin. Having a daughter with Down syndrome has taught me to slow down, take things in stride, and appreciate the small things in life. My hope and desire is to be a positive and cheerful person making a difference at Hewitt Texas along with the amazing staff we are blessed to have.

Mrs. Karla Tennant ~ Music Teacher
After commuting many years to Merrill to teach 4th grade, I started teaching in Wausau in 2017. I've had the honor of teaching science, 4th grade, and now elementary music in our district. Please feel free to stop by so I can get to know you and your children better. I am always interested in finding out more about my students and their families. This helps me to connect their learning to real-world events. I also love being around kids because they always have a fresh outlook on life.
I love to spend time with my husband, Greg, my grown daughter, Karissa, and our 5-year-old son, Samuel. Here's an interesting fact... Did you know that I grew up in the Town of Texas on a dairy farm? I even attended Hewitt-Texas for preschool! I am so excited to be here!
