3rd Grade Excellence
Hello Beasley Professionals!
We would like to congratulate the 3rd Grade Teacher Team: Ms. K. Williams, Ms. Drumgoole, Ms. Mayes, Ms. Mun and Ms. Ray for having the highest RIT growth on our NWEA MOY assessments. The fact that this is a benchmark promotion grade spells out more celebration for 3rd grade. Nice work!
Strengthening Beasley Voices for the Greater Good
Overall, this survey indicates how our administration and teachers impact the school. The reality is we have 1, 400 students who attend our school and that marks a significant data point about the demand for the Beasley school experience. Being pragmatic, all schools experience challenges. Complaints will occur and I know this from my experience working in various schools and listening to other principals from Level 1 and Level 1+ schools. However, it is my contention, that if we focus more toward providing sound, structured, and rigorous learning activities for students it will positively impact other areas in the school. The recipe for success is to focus more on growing children.
There are good reasons to celebrate our success. Some of our PM (Performance Management) data points include:
- Sustained all current staff positions in lieu of budgetary crisis/cuts
- Provided staff professional development to improve working relationships
- Math is showing positive trends as compared to last year
- Two departmental math teacher 6th-8th
- Push-in/Pull-out utilizing Resource Teachers in the primary grades (MTSS)
- Purchased more technology
- Argument-centered literacy and close reading of informational texts
- Over 50% of our 2nd grade were at or above the MOY National RIT Avg.
- Over 95% student attendance rates
- Improved the school's physical aesthetics (i.e. hallways, library) and communicated positive school values
- Increased our school personnel to address Diverse Learners
We have heard your concerns about discipline and have enforced the Caught Being Good Program on Fridays. The Principal's Place will be open on Fridays for students to spend their Beasley Bucks when they are acting appropriately for the week. We also intend to use this incentive for the school bus behavior if the bus companies cooperate.
Reflecting upon the PPLC staff surveys, my goal is to find creative and effective ways to gain your trust in my leadership. I have and will continue to try to find ways to let you know that I do care about your personal and professional success at Beasley Academic Center.
Lastly, we will be providing PM sessions with students so that they will know more about what our goals are and what we have achieved. Our goal is to achieve Well-Developed again on our My Voice, My School surveys and they are 10% of our SQRP ratings.

Message from Ms. Robins (1st Grade Teacher)
As many of you heard already, Mrs. Bertoncini had her baby girl, Stella Grace, this past Saturday. She had her at 24 weeks and Stella will be in the NICU for quite some time. So far everything is great and Stella is a fighter. Many of you have approached me and asked if there is anything you can do. I am starting a collection of money to give to Mrs. Bertoncini to help her pay for her parking. I was surprised to hear that the hospital does not do anything for mothers who go everyday to sit with their baby. Any amount that you want to contribute would be amazing. I will be giving this to her on Tuesday, March 1st with a card from everybody involved. Please see me in Room 115 if you would like to contribute.
Thanks everyone!
