Biography
Charlie Chaplin was born on April 16, 1889 in London England. His father was an actor and singer. His mother was an actress and opera singer. When he was 10 his dad died and him and his brother, Sydney started acting to make money because their mother was too ill to work. Chaplin’s first big job was dancing in a children’s group called “The Eight Lancashire Lads”, this group made him well known for his tap dancing.
When he was 12 he did his first show on stage. Charlie Chaplin is most known for his acting in the films, The Gold Rush, Woman of Paris, The Circus, City Lights, Modern Times, The Great Dictator, Monsieur Verdoux, Limelight, A King In New York, A Countess In Hong Kong, and The Kid. Chaplin is also famous for his four books, My Trip Abroad, A Comedian Sees the World, My Autobiography, and My Life in Pictures. Other things he is known for is playing the violin and cello, being a composer, producing, and directing movies. He died on December 25, 1977 of a stroke."Gold Rush"
