MONDAY'S SOLAR ECLIPSE
Plans for the Solar Eclipse - 3rd thru 5th grade
Monday is the Solar Eclipse! Staff will be taking 3rd thru 5th grade students out to the playground around 2pm to view the peak that is occuring at 2:06pm. Hopefully the weather cooperates!
Staff have been talking with students about the dangers of viewing the solar eclipse without the proper precautions. We ask that you please reinforce the importance of this at home over the weekend.
Students will be wearing eclipse sunglasses during that time.
If you have concerns with your child being outside during the eclipse and prefer that they remain indoors, please contact your student's teacher or the main office so we know to keep them inside.

6TH GRADE OPPORTUNITIES!
Hello 5th grade families!
We are so excited that some of your students are interested in joining band or orchestra at Karcher Middle School! Participating in instrumental music at KMS is a fantastic opportunity for students to learn an instrument, play with their peers, and express themselves musically.
We are hosting an Instrument Fitting Night on Tuesday, April 30th from 4:00-7:30 pm at Karcher School! Each student who signed up for band or orchestra will have a 15-minute one-on-one appointment with a White House of Music specialist to try different instruments and find their perfect fit. This appointment is important as it helps us understand your student’s strengths, as well as assist them in choosing an instrument that will set them up for success for years to come. Please make an appointment for a 15-minute time slot using our Sign Up Genius link here: https://www.signupgenius.com/go/10C0944A4AA29A0FFC34-48849638-2024
If you are unsure of whether or not your student signed up for band or orchestra, please make an appointment anyway to try an instrument and we will double-check that your student is registered for the correct music course.
If you cannot attend the April 30th fitting night, please contact Ms. Wisniewski to set up an appointment after school before the end of the school year.
Please feel free to reach out if you have any questions and we will be happy to help you! Thank you so much for your support of your student’s musical journey and we look forward to seeing you on April 30th!
Musically yours,
Ms. Anna Wisniewski
Band Director
Mrs. Casey Unger
Orchestra Director
RACINE COUNTY YOUTH PROJECT
Hello,
I am reaching out to you on behalf of the Racine County Youth in Governance Program. The Racine County Youth in Governance Program allows high schoolers in Racine County to serve on one of Racine County’s County Board committees. Also, through the Youth in Governance Program, we also hold a service project. This year we have planned a project at the Racine County Library called “Lit Literacy Bonanza” on Saturday, April 20th from 10am - 12pm. On this day we will be holding interactive reading and math activities along with the librarians at the county library. We will also be handing out free books to the children who attend this event.
Because we see this event as a great way to stimulate reading, writing, and STEM thinking in younger children, we wanted to ask you to circulate the advertisement we have attached to this email.
If you have any questions or want to talk further about our event or the Youth in Governance program don’t hesitate to reply to me or our supervisor. (Her email is listed here): maria.gaytanmartinez@wisc.edu
Thank you,
Christopher Naber
