Please see notification below from Denton ISD regarding our campus being used as a voting location March 5:
Denton ISD Facilities Used for March 5 Election
Representatives from the Denton County Elections Commission have designated several campuses throughout Denton ISD as in-person voting locations for the upcoming primary election from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Tuesday, March 5. State statute does not permit Denton ISD to decline the request for use of facilities for this purpose.
In the interest of the safety of our students and staff, Denton ISD is making every effort to separate the area that will be used by the public for voting from the areas used by students and staff for academics.
To that end, members of the public will not enter the building at a campus’ front door as most voting locations within the school will be in a secured gymnasium/library or non-classroom area of the campus. Exterior signage will direct members of the public to the voting area entrance, most often on the back or side of the campus.
Denton ISD is working with local volunteers, including PTAs, PTOs, Service Clubs and Watch DOGS groups to provide extra adult supervision on campus for the day. Also, the district has requested that Denton County provide additional law enforcement representatives to be present during school hours while members of the public vote.
Please note that parents with students who attend schools that are being used as voting locations have the option to keep their student(s) at home should they choose to do so. Simply provide a note stating “Election” as the reason for the absence via the campus’ website to receive an excused absence.
The following campuses will host voting on Tuesday, March 5:
Braswell High School
East Field House
Stephens Central Services Building
Boardroom
CH Collins Athletic Complex
Banquet Room
Cheek Middle School
Small Gymnasium
Guyer High School
West Field House

Solar Eclipse viewing April 8th
We are thrilled to announce a unique educational opportunity coming up for our students. On April 8th there will be a total solar eclipse during the school day, and we are planning a special learning experience for our students to be able to safely view and learn about this celestial event. We want to extend our sincere appreciation to the Perot Museum of Nature and Science, which has donated solar eclipse viewing glasses for all of our students!
Our teachers will be incorporating this event into their lesson plans to further engage our students in their Science learning, providing educational activities and discussions to enhance their understanding of solar eclipses. Specific instruction will be given regarding the safety and reasons for wearing the eclipse glasses. If you have any questions or concerns, or if you wish for your child to not participate, please let us know.
