Triton Times
Eastlake Middle School 8.03.18
Week 2 is in the books. All classes have been balanced and there should be minimal changes moving forward. If you still have concerns, please schedule an appointment with the counselors. Students have been assigned iPads. Our students have been great models for our Chinese and Japanese Delegates. Here are some highlights and points to consider:
A. Open House! Open House is August 9th. Classroom visits will begin at 6:00 PM in your student's first period class. They will bring home a schedule by August 8th. Please see our website for more information.
B. Military Families. We are looking for families who are interested in creating a support group for our military personnel. Please contact me directly at ricardo.cooke@sweetwaterschools.org.
C. Safety Drills. We will conduct seven drills on August 8th and 9th. These drills will happen druing the first five to ten minutes of each class with minimal disruption to the class learning environment. We want our campus to be safe and secure which requires students and staff to be prepared for a variety of situations. We will be conducting these drills in coordination with local law enforcement and the fire department. Contact Mr. Nafarrete at mendel.nafarrete@sweetwaterschools.org.
D. Expectations Assembly. This past week we talked with students about the Triton Way via an Expectations Assembly. We covered key points from the Parent and Student Handbook. Please preview this handbook as we will ask you to sign off indicating that you understand the expectations as well. The handbook can be viewed on our website.
E. Shade and the Heat. We are doing out best to add a shaded structure to our campus. It has been vetted with the district and is awaiting architectural approval and the bid process. In the meantime, we do have shade opportunities on the south lawn and the pavilion. Starting August 13th, we will open the auditorium for students as well.
F. Open House. Come meet our staff on August 9th. We will send out a flyer with additional information this week. Please circle the date in the meantime!
G. PTSO! Our parent organization is looking for amazing parent leaders. We can use your help. Please nominate yourself or other great parents. Please visit the PTSO website.
H. Interested in Athletics? Check out the flyer below! Information for Fall Sports tryouts will be announced shortly on the website.
