Happy Veteran's Day Weekend!
On Friday, November 11th we celebrated Veteran's Day. This holiday traces all the way back to November 11th, 1918 when fighting between the Allies Nations and Germany officially ceased and ended World War 1, "The war to end all wars". Since then many more people have served, fought, and ultimately given their lives for their country. I hope this weekend you were able to enjoy the extra day off with the family, but also had a chance to honor those who served in our armed forces. This weekend, we honored my grandfathers who both served in the Navy during the conflicts in Korea and Vietnam. It was their service to our country that brought our family here to San Diego over 60 years ago. Even though my kids have never met their great-grandfathers, we make sure they know their legacy. As our family enjoy's our Sundays at a Padre game or watch the jets fly over the 15, it is the legacy of their great-grandfathers and so many other people just like them who have fought and served so we get to enjoy in this great city.
On behalf of the Way Family, thank you to all of our Veteran's and active duty service members for your commitment and sacrifice to our country. We hope you felt the love and appreciation you so very much deserve.
Josh Way, Ed.D
Principal

Some Things to Consider...
One thing is certain in education and that is that nothing is certain in education. It's not a critique, it's just trying to find certainty in a field that is complicated and nuanced is challenging. This article is a perfect example. There have been many debates the last couple of years regarding remediation and, generally speaking, whether schools should go back and fill in lost learning or continue moving forward with new skills while back-filling older foundational skills. This article talks about how schools are debating how to best plan for summer school and how the traditional approach of remediation can do more harm than good.
