The Solemnity of Christ the King
Leadership Message
Is Jesus the King of my Heart?
This Sunday is the last Sunday of the Church’s liturgical year. Today we celebrate the Solemnity of Christ the King. Each year we set aside this Sunday to reflect upon this title that we have given to Jesus.
To understand how Christ is our king, we connect to the Kingdom of God. Christ’s kingship extends to all places, all people, and all times. Jesus showed us that God's love is universal, everlasting, and humble. The King came to us in a manger, on a silent night. When we see with eyes of faith we recognize Jesus to be our heavenly king and our guide of love. When we make Jesus the King of our hearts we live the lives we are called to lead.
Blessings,
Mrs. Bonnie-Lynne Boehm, Principal

Meet some of our School Council 2021-2022 Executive
MEET Alana Seymour: School Council Chair
MEET Shawnene Wallgren: School Council Co-Chair
MEET Candice Kalyn: School Council Vice-Chair
Hi everyone! I’m so incredibly grateful to be a part of the St John XXIII family. My daughter, Cecily is currently in Grade 1 and loving every minute of it. I’m excited to start my journey with School Council and to be a part of some exciting events and collaborations supporting school administration.
I thrive on bringing joy to others and lending a helping hand in any way I can. I’m looking forward to learning my new role as vice-chair and helping anyway I can.
MEET Bairlyn Gentry: Council Treasurer
Hi my name is Bairlyn Gentry and I’m the new treasurer for School Council here at St. John XXlll. I have two children that attend St. John, Bristol, who is in Grade 4 and Brayson, in Grade 2. It has been a blessing that their path through education, growth and play began in these supportive and loving halls.
I’m originally from Vancouver Island, at 19 I set off to travel the globe for 12 years. These years taught me about the diversity of the human experience. They taught me to ask questions and to learn about others. I am excited to bring that with me into my new role. I look forward to being a part of the amazing group of staff and parents coming together to create new ideas and connection for St. John families, both in the hallways and throughout the community.
Education is a partnership amongst us all, and I believe strongly that when we work together, students win.
Meet Korinne Weima: Council Secretary
Hello Families! My name is Korinne Weima and I have two young boys named Owen (3), and Jax (5) who is in Kindergarten at the incredible St. John XXIII School. I grew up in Northern Ontario and moved to Alberta in 2010 to start my career as a teacher! My experiences as a teacher, student support facilitator and MOM will meld well with this opportunity to be Called to More, a partner with parents as the new secretary on the Parent Council (2021-2022). My heart is so happy to have Jax attend St. John XXIII, I see how the leadership supports the teachers, which in turn, allows them to care for, and love on, our children. I look forward to staying connected, learning from ALL of you, and sharing my voice and ideas.

Thank you families for sending your kids dressed and ready for outdoor play each day.
As weather changes quickly, please send in layers. An extra pair of gloves, socks and a second mask are great to have in backpacks on those wet days.
We are in need of a few pairs of gently used snow pants and winter jackets. Thank you for your consideration.
