NEED by Joelle Charbonneau
You may have had someone in your life tell you that there is a difference between a want and a need. Charbonneau’s latest thriller explores that concept as she delves into the human psyche. The setting is Nottawa, a small town in Wisconsin. There is a new social media site specifically for high school students called NEED that promises to grant your need requests in return for completing tasks for the site. The tasks start out simple enough, but soon there are unintended consequences and bad things are happening to people. How far are these students willing to go to get what they think they need?

B. L. Gray Librarian Is Granted Outstanding Student Award
Sam Houston State University alumnus and B. L. Gray Librarian Wenndy Pray was exclusively selected by the SHSU Library Science Department as the only Outstanding Student Award recipient for the 2017 Spring semester. The LS Department is comprised of professors in the field who select students based on GPA, work ethic and quality, and other attributes. It was the consensus of the committee to select Mrs. Pray for this award. “I can honestly say that hard work pays off,” affirms Mrs. Pray. “Having a growth mindset in the midst of expectation has been a rewarding experience. I am grateful to have been chosen for this award.”
