Mrs. Bax's Virtual Open House
Third Grade
Welcome!
About Me: My name is Jessica Bax and I grew up in the small town of Chamois, Missouri with two brothers, an awesome mother, and an art teacher father. After graduating from high school, I attended and graduated from the University of Missouri with a Bachelors degree in Elementary Education. After graduation, I taught fourth grade for three years at Auxvasse Elementary. In May of 2009 I finished earning my master’s degree in Curriculum and Instruction from Mizzou. This is currently my twelfth year teaching third grade at Pioneer Trail Elementary. I live in Jefferson City with my husband Michael, my fourth grader twins -Oliver and Cora, and our two dogs. During the summer, I graduated with my educational specialists degree from Mizzou in the area of math curriculum.
I love coming to school because every day is another fun and exciting day of learning!

Homework and Take Home Folder
After next week (August 31st-September 4th), the take home folder will also include you child's homework. Homework each week will consist of one math sheet and a reading log. Your child is encouraged to read at least 75 minutes each week. Homework is due on Friday morning and a new log will come home on Friday. On some occasions, when your child does not complete assignments in class, those will be sent home as homework as well. Please make sure your child brings them home on the following school day.
Time Capsule and Writer's Notebook
The first task is to bring in a small, memorable object. This object will go into a classroom time capsule. With our time capsule, students will put in a letter and their object to be opened up on the last day of school. It will be fun to see how much we have changed since the first day.
Students will also be asked to decorate one of their composition notebooks. They can decorate it with pictures, stickers, or drawings. Hopefully, these decorations will help your child to be creative writers as they write in their notebooks.
Feel free to bring in your time capsule object and decorated composition notebook on the first day of school, otherwise before August 28th.
Thanks for your help!
