Dear Rose Families,
I am excited to share that the CHAMPS Committee is once again launching Rose Bucks and Golden Rays to reward students for positive behavior. For those new to Rose, our school adopted CHAMPS three years ago to proactively teach students behavior expectations. As a building, we have found great success with the system as it creates consistent behavior expectations across classrooms and common spaces. It also proactively reminds and rewards students for being respectful, responsible, and safe. Right now, students are working together to earn ten gold rays as a class. Once the class has the golden rays, they will earn a recess and popsicle treat. We will celebrate their success in the announcements as well. Students also have an opportunity to earn Rose Bucks individually. Students will then have redemption days to use the Rose Bucks for prizes and experiences.
Parent/Teacher Conferences are coming up quickly! Conferences will be held on Wednesday, October 13th from 4 pm-8 pm and Thursday, October 14th from 1 pm-7 pm. There is no student attendance on Thursday and Friday, October 14th and 15th. As a reminder, these are our district dates and times for our parent/teacher conferences and we encourage all parents to take advantage of this great opportunity to meet with your child’s teacher. Our teachers have been busy charting students’ progress, goal-setting with students, and using a variety of formative and summative assessments to determine if students are meeting learning targets. Since teachers spend so much time getting ready for these conferences, we ask that parents do not request parent/teacher conferences outside of this conference window. If vacation plans have been made, please sign up for a virtual conference. Thank you for your understanding and for supporting our teachers’ busy schedules.
Student News: Please email me exciting news about your Stingray! We love to celebrate the accomplishments and success of our students and want to give them a shout out in our school news. My email is hschumacher@barrington220.org.
Tik Tok Challenges: Unfortunately, there have been more TIk Tok challenges shared on social media for October directed at students. Although we are hopeful that our Rose students will not engage in any negative social media challenges, we want to be proactive and are reminding students to be respectful, responsible, and safe while at school. Please help us and have a conversation with your child(ren) at home as well. Students that participate in any type of physical aggression towards staff or students will receive consequences. One day, hopefully there will be positive social media messages that gain such momentum to promote kindness.
Enjoy the week!
Regards,
Heather Schumacher
Principal
