Restrictions on the iPad
Randolph Field ISD Instructional Technology
What are restrictions?
You can use Restrictions, also known as parental controls, to block or limit specific apps and features on your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch, including access to explicit content in the iTunes Store.
To Turn on Restrictions...
- Unlock the iPad and launch the Settings app
- Tap General
- Tap Restrictions
- Tap Enable Restrictions and create a passcode for Restrictions. Don’t forget this passcode. In the future, you'll need your Restrictions passcode to change your settings or to turn off Restrictions. This passcode should be different than the iPad unlock code
What can be restricted?
- Apps and features such as FaceTime, the Camera, Siri, etc.
- Types of content such as music, movies, Siri, certain websites, etc.
- Changes to privacy settings such as location services, contacts, photos, etc.
- Changes to accounts and settings such as the ability to add or remove iCloud accounts, volume limits, etc.
What can not be restricted?
- The ability to block specific apps such as Snapchat, Facebook, Instagram, etc.
Notes...
In some cases, your student might need a certain restriction enabled or disabled for an instructional/classroom purpose. You are encouraged to contact your child's teacher or the campus principal to discuss these restrictions.
It's not possible to restrict or block specific apps on the iPad.
If the restriction to only allow certain websites is enabled, the iPad will only be allowed to go to those websites, potentially blocking websites used for instruction.
