Home of the Ravens
Ravenwood embodies community and thrives from the interconnected support system of Eagle River. Outdoor education, the arts, and the use of technology are all integrated into the academic experiences students are offered to optimize engagement, creativity, and independent learning.
Land Acknowledgement
We would like to acknowledge that our school is on the traditional lands of the Dena'ina Athabascan people. It is with gratitude and respect that we recognize the past and present contributions of Alaska's first people. Chin'an (thank you)
Dear Ravenwood Families –
We're excited and busy preparing for the return of our PK-2nd grade students on Tuesday! Thursday, Jan. 14, is an additional asynchronous day to allow us to do additional prep and do a practice day to ensure things run smoothly. Nurse Cottle and I are planning to do another Zoom tomorrow, but due to scheduling issues, we may have to push this to Friday. In any event, we will send a separate reminder and link out as soon as we can confirm a date/time, and we will record it so you can watch it at your convenience.
In the meantime, please stay safe, healthy and enjoy the Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. holiday weekend. We can't wait to "see" our students!!!
Warmly,
Kim Bautista
Thursday, Jan. 14th is an Asynchronous Learning Day
Return to In-person Learning for PreK - 2nd Grade
Please consider scheduling appointments outside of the school day as the student sign-out process will be done outside the building (either by front door or at your car).
Let's keep ASD Symptom-Free so we can continue to meet in-person! Check out the ASD Symptom-Free Health & Safety video below by Mrs. Bautista & Nurse Cottle from Jan. 7th.
Thank You CoAlaska for choosing Ravenwood as a recipient of the Be Safe, Be Seen Project!
BE SAFE. BE SEEN.
During the dark winter months when students are playing outside, walking to school, or at a bus stop, we want to make sure they dress warm and are easy to see when visibility is difficult. Each Ravenwood student will receive a bright orange or yellow ski hat with reflective threading to wear this winter as part of this year’s initiative and a partnership between The Anchorage School District and Coalaska. We want to encourage our students to BE SAFE AND BE SEEN by:
- wearing bright clothing
- using lights
- being aware of surroundings
- walking with lights and traffic
- being extra cautious

Help us Evaluate ASD's Certificated Staff
The teacher and staff evaluation period is currently open.
ASD welcomes community input regarding our teacher and administrator employees' performance from now through April 30, 2021. This timeframe allows us to review the input received and take it into consideration during evaluations.
This input is allowed through Alaska state statute AS 14.20.149, which states that staff, students, parents, and community members have the opportunity to provide input on Certificated teacher and administrator performances. Per the statute, this comment period “provide[s] an opportunity for students, parents, community members, teachers, and administrators to provide information on the performance of the teacher or administrator who is the subject of the evaluation to the evaluating administrator.” https://www.asdk12.org/evaluations
Library News
Happy 2021!
Checking Out: Grades K through 2nd grade will begin weekly library check out the week of January 25th. Students will choose books on a paper menu. I will check the books out and bring them to the classroom within a day or two. Books will be due prior to the students getting their new menu.
Students in grades 3rd through 6th can continue to use the curbside service and Thursday distribution day.
Books from 2019-2020 School Year: Did you find any treasurers over winter break? Please have students look under beds and in the backs of closets. We have 191 books still checked out from last year. You can log into your child’s library account to see what is missing. Overdue notices were sent home on December 17th for the classes that had materials heading home. I will be emailing parents for classes that are not sending materials home.
Happy reading! Mrs. Guest
