Fetal Alcohol Syndrome
A congenital syndrome that is caused by a mother consuming alcohol while she is pregnant.
Cause
*Consuming alcohol during pregnancy
Symptom
- low birth weight
- organ dysfunction
- failure to thrive
- development delay
- small eyelid openings
- short, upturned nose
- long upper lip
- reduced size of head
Secondary Conditions
- mental health problems
- alcohol and drug problems
- trouble with law

Prevention
- Don't drink alcohol if you are trying to get pregnant or have the possibility to get pregnant
Treatment
- special education teacher
- physical and occupational therapists
- medication
