Happy April
It is hard to believe that we have so little time left in the school year. We want the children to continue to work hard and be prepared for the next grade. The children have been working very hard to meet their goals. I am very proud of all their efforts. We are working hard to make sure that every single child will feel the pride in achieving success. Character Connection
This month’s pillar word is resilience which is the ability to bounce back during tough times. It’s important to build resilience early so that children know how to handle hard situations. As adults, we know that we will face adversity during our lives. Having the skills to overcome these obstacles is key. If you’d like to read more about resilience or how to help your child build these skills, you can check out this article.

From Ms. Raeker
Next month our 3rd and 4th grade students will complete the Missouri Assessment Program (MAP) standardized tests. These tests measure how well students have mastered the education standards identified by the state. To help students prepare, this month’s counseling lessons will focus on test-taking strategies. The younger students will also be working on creating motivational posters and cards for the older students to encourage them when they take the tests.
Feel free to reach out by emailing sraeker@mvr3.k12.mo.us or call 636 271 1444 and ask for Ms. Raeker.

Prevent Mosquito and Tick Bites
It’s as Simple as ABCD
Avoid bites — use insect repellent!
Be safe — always follow the repellent label instructions!
Cover up — wear loose, light-colored long sleeves and pants!
Dump — remove standing water around your home to reduce mosquito habitat!
Use air conditioning or make sure your window/door screens are tight. Mosquitoes and ticks will be active anytime the ground isn’t frozen. Protect yourself from mosquitoes and the diseases they can carry!
How to Remove a Tick
Remove the tick as soon as possible.
Use fine-tipped tweezers to grasp the tick close to the skin’s surface.
Pull upward with steady, even pressure to remove the tick.
Avoid twisting or jerking the tick’s body.
Clean the bite area and your hands with rubbing alcohol, iodine scrub or soap and water.
MUSIC
Third and Fourth Grade did an amazing job on their performances in March. Kindergarten will have songs for Graduation in May. Students in Second, Third and Fourth Grades need to continue reviewing their music vocabulary words for the quiz the first week of May. Study guides can be found on our Google Classroom pages.
