Principal's Message
Happy November Chimborazo families,
We had a very eventful October punctuated by an anti-bullying assembly and Book Character Day yesterday. It was so wonderful to see so many of our students dressed up as characters from their favorite books and characters. During the month of October, we had a multitude of events to foster a sense of family, build relationships, increase our academic proficiency, and support our students in supporting and caring for others. Some of these events included our economics lessons during Junior Achievement in a Day, Blue Sky Field Trips, a few excursions to the pumpkin patch, our run club's culminating event, and even meeting a real-life astronaut. Our annual Thanksgiving and literacy celebration will be happening this month as we celebrate family, literacy, and all we have to be thankful for!
Please make it a priority to attend parent teacher conference day on the 11th with your child’s teacher. There is limited time given this day has typically been a whole day event, so if the teacher is unable to get you scheduled on the designated day, please make arrangements on another day to discuss your child's academic standing and how they are meeting behavioral expectations. This is a great time to see how your child is progressing and how we can work collaboratively to support our children at home and at school. Report cards will go home the week of the 11th. Student grades are earned and not given, so the discussions at these conferences is vital. All of us want to see each and every student here at Chimborazo be the best version of themselves they can be. They have so many talents, and I want to ensure that all of their unique talents are cultivated and flourish. Thank you for your continued support.
Respectfully,
Mr. Peck

Attendance matters
Research shows that missing 10 percent of the school, or about 18 days in most school districts, negatively affects a student’s academic performance. That’s just two days a month and that’s known as chronic absence. Also, as a subtle reminder, the school day starts at 9 a.m., so please do your best to ensure your child is not missing any instruction.
Student Code Of Responsible Ethics
What can you do to support your child in exhibiting positive behavior?
The Student Code of Responsible Ethics ( S.C.O.R.E.) outlines the behavioral expectations and potential consequences for students. Please consider the following suggestions below. A link to the the handbook is provided below.
- Review the Code of Behavior with your child.
- Ask your child about his/her day at school every day.
- Keep in touch with your child's teacher
- Encourage your child to use appropriate language and tone.
- Practice positive phrases with our child, such as, “Thank you,” “Excuse me,” “Please,” and “I’m sorry.”
- Be a visible part of your child’s school day. Attend PTA and school events.
