August 2023 - News
Elkhorn High School
From the Desk of Mark Schroeder, Principal
Elkhorn High School Parents,
Welcome back! We are excited to welcome students back to EHS for the 2023-2024 school year. We are ready to get another school year started here at Elkhorn High School!
We could not be more eager to get going on the next school year. Between activities and summer school, this place has never really slowed down - but summer programs just aren’t the same as seeing students walk the halls during passing periods.
One item I wanted to put on your radar is the upcoming EHS Back to School Open House, which will be held from 12:00pm-6:00pm on Thursday, August 3rd, 2023 up here at Elkhorn High.
One request: While EHS is staffed with classroom teachers, the Elkhorn Public Schools are in need of Teachers’ Assistants, and often some of our very best are parents in the community. If interested, please consider APPLYING HERE! We have openings in the elementary, middle and high school settings. These positions are invaluable to our student body, and TA’s are welcome members of any EPS school team. They are part time positions - usually 32.5 hours per week - a great opportunity if you’ve been thinking about a change.
Some Upcoming Dates to Know:
On Tuesday, August 1st, families will receive an email from the district with instructions for how to complete back to school registration for powerschool and activities. Please follow those instructions and have your student’s information updated on PS to help ensure we are ready to support them when they return to school.
Your student’s schedule will be available at EHS on Thursday, August 3rd from noon-6 pm if you have completed the back to school online forms. If you are not able to pick up the schedule on that day, you may come to the high school any day after to pick it up--as long as you have filled out the online paperwork.
Schedule changes are very limited. However, if your child would like to request a schedule change, please have them do the following:
Students will be emailed a link from their counselor on August 3rd, complete it no later than August 7th at 3:30 pm.
Counselors will email the students and let them know if they need to take any additional steps. Changes in year long classes and level changes may require additional meetings and consultation.
The first day of school (Tuesday, 8/15) will host our Freshmen in the morning (8:10-11:41) and the upperclassmen in the afternoon (12:30-3:20). More specific information will be communicated prior to Day One.
Students will receive the following information at the Back To School Open House and Activities Fair on August 3rd, 2023 from 12:00pm-6:00pm:

EPS District Reminders
SchoolMessenger Alert System
EPS and individual buildings use a parent messaging system called SchoolMessenger to send emails, phone calls, and text messages to parents sharing district information, monthly updates about building happenings, and weather-related school closings. To ensure receipt of these updates, please verify that all contact information listed in your parent PowerSchool account, including phone numbers and email addresses, is correct.
Additionally, this system allows recipients to “unsubscribe” from its mailing list; however, please understand that by “unsubscribing” you are completely removing your email address and phone number from both District and building lists. If you choose to Unsubscribe, you will not receive any communication from your child’s assigned school or the EPS district. If you accidentally unsubscribe or decide you would like to begin receiving emails again after unsubscribing, contact your building secretary to change your communication status.
