Tisch's Tidbits
Canned Food Drive
Union will be having a food drive for a local food pantry. For each item brought in, your child will earn a point for their House. Please be sure to check expiration dates. :) We will be collecting items all week!
Pajama Drive
We are also collecting new pajamas for The Villages so others can be warm and comfy this winter season.
Book Talks
Just a reminder that your child is reading a book in which they will present to the class. It should last between three-five minutes. We have gone over the rubric and watched an example. Your child should also have a sheet of paper that has an outline with lines for your child to take notes of what they would like to say. Think of this as a movie trailer in hopes of encouraging others to read the book. There is a calendar sign up in our classroom so when your child is ready, they can write their name on the date when they would like to present. All Book Talks should be done by Wednesday, December 21.
Famous Hoosiers
Your child will be assigned their famous Hoosier this week! While we won't be starting to do our full research project until next semester, feel free to be on the lookout for items of interest that will help give information when the time arises.
Field Trip
We will be going on our second field trip on Monday, November 21 to the State Museum. Since each child created their own Indiana t-shirt, we would love for them to wear their shirts on Monday for the field trip. I will be sending home the shirts this week with the directions of how to wash them. Please remind your child to wear it on Monday.
Prepositions
Your child has been challenged to memorize 49 prepositions! We are working on the jingle at school and hand motions to engage our brains! The only deadline is Thanksgiving Break for your child to have memorized all six sections. I will have the assessments out for each section in the mornings, so your child may pick one (or two) up when they come in, working at their own pace. No need to memorize it all tonight! You may want to listen when they are ready to ensure they know them! Here is the link so you know how the jingle goes. There are a few before the preposition flow jingle.

Union Elementary Online Directory
Not familiar with the Online Directory? The directory allows parents to communicate with one another whether it’s to set up play-dates, send out birthday invitations, or just get to know one another. In order to obtain access, an email address is required. If you haven’t provided an address and want access to the directory, contact Carey atRoberts_carey@yahoo.com.

REMIND 101
Another way for me to keep in touch is the use of remind 101. Many times I will just send a text reminder instead of an email. To sign up for 2016-17 Parents notifications, please visit
If you already have the Remind101 app, you can search for my class or use @cdc79.
