Who is Melba Patillo Beals?
Melba Patillo Beals is a journalist and member of the Little Rock Nine. She was born on December 7, 1941. She is now age 72.
Her Career
She attended San Francisco University and then Columbia University. She then became a reporter for a San Francisco TV station, and now works as a public speaker. She wrote Warriors Don't Cry, white is a state of mind; a memoir. She also was the first of the nine to write about what happened to them.
How is she now?
She has one daughter and has adopted two sons. She won the nations highest civilian award presented to her by President Bill Clinton.
