Mr. Morgan's Kindergarten Class
A Little About Me
My name is Maxwell Morgan, and I am 21 years old. I like working with kids because a a young age like that, they still seem very genuine and ready to learn. I wasn't a big fan of school growing up, but looking back the years I enjoyed the least were the years that I didn't have teachers willing to give me the attention I needed. I aspire to be one of the good teachers, one of the teachers that can see what the kids need and give it to them.
School Can Be Fun
I don't think standing in front of a classroom of 5 and 6 year olds and lecturing them on spelling and counting sounds like a very good plan. In my classroom, we will do several projects and activities concerning the subject matter we will be working with so the kids don't always feel like they're being talked to or just doing busy work. If they can have fun while they learn, then why not do it that way?
Some Subjects We'll Be Working On:
Math
We will work on the children's math skills starting with addition and subtraction. In this day and age, people mostly use calculators, but it is still very important to be able to do these things on your own first.
Reading
Reading is something we do everyday. Even though people aren't as in to books as it seems like they used to be, students are always learning on computers now, and cell phones seem to have become a very common thing as well. Whether it be traditional book reading or digital reading (or even something as simple as reading the label on your favorite cereal), we do it everyday without realizing it.
Writing
It's important for a child to be able to spell their own name, right? We will work on things like that and work our way up to full blown sentences. A child needs to be able to recognize and create letters before we can expect them to hop on a computer and type out words. Writing also goes hand in hand with reading, and it is a very important skill.
