Bobcat Bulletin
Welcometo the 23-24 School Year!
Week of April 15th
From the Desk of Principal Schmid
Hello Bobcat Families,
Eid Mubarak to all those who celebrated this week!
What a wonderful learning experience we had on Monday for the Solar Eclipse! Our world is truly amazing! Whether your child experienced it at the indoor or outdoor party, a peak experience it sure was for all of our Bobcat Community (Be sure to check out the pictures below!)! I can't wait for our students to think back to where they were in 2024 when the next one comes around in 2044! I got to be a mystery reading in 2B this week qand loved it (Pictured to the right.). There is so much learning that is happening at every minute within the Bobcat Den, and it is an honor to see it come alive in our classrooms!
We hope you will join us next week for our PTA meeting where we will elect our next board. We are grateful for ALL the PTA does to support us and thank our current board members who have reached the end of their term! I always provide an update at each meeting of all the amazing things happening in the Bobcat Den; it's always great to connect with you. Speaking of amazing things happening, don't miss out on the talents of the Bobcats coming alive on stage at the "In our Bobcat Era" Variety Show on Friday! I am so proud of all of our particpants as it takes a great deal of bravery and courage to take the stage--I am looking forward to cheering them on!
Team IPEF is 11 members and growing--come join us! All Bobcat students and families are welcome. See below for more information regarding the FUN while supporting a great cause at the same time!
As always, we appreciate you sharing your children with us. It is an honor to watch them grow and learn in so many ways each day, and we are cherishing each moment of our last quarter with them!
Thank you,
Mrs. Keeley Schmid

UPDATES
Parent Input Form 24-25 School Year
A great deal of time and thought goes into making class lists each school year. This process includes collaboration that takes place with your child's current teacher/team as well as specialists and interventionists that work with your student. There are no legacy placements that are granted as each student is unique and thrives in different learning environments. However, as a partner in this process, your input is valuable. Each parent input form is reviewed and considered prior to class lists being finalized.
Team IPEF: 11 Strong and Growing! Join Us!
We did it Bobcats! We Earned Pop Up Challenge #1--11 strong and growing!
There's still time to join the fun! Bobcat students and parents can both join!
The Indian Prairie Educational Foundation (IPEF) invites you to come run or walk with Team IPEF 2024! This is our eleventh year as a charity partner with the Endeavor Health Naperville Half Marathon, 10K, and 5K race, which takes place on Sunday, October 20. Join our team of community members, parents, teachers, staff, and students to proudly represent and raise funds for your school and the programs of IPEF. Dear Parent, Guardian or Staff Member: (04/12/24)
Public Acts 91-0099 and 91-0525 mandate Integrated Pest Management (IPM) for Illinois public schools. IPM manages pest damage with the least possible hazard to people, property and the environment; including judicious use of pesticides. In this context, “pesticide” includes insecticide, herbicide, rodenticide, and fungicide.
IPM provides parents/guardians or staff members with prior notice of herbicide application. As you have requested, please be aware that on (04/20/24), weather permitting, a fertilization and weed control application will applied to the turf areas at Granger-Indian Plains-Hill-Brookdale-CEC-Fischer-Georgetown-Gombert-Brooks-1250 Shore-Longwood-McCarty-Reba Steck-Still-Young . We match herbicide and application procedures to our school environment. All are approved for school use, and are an important part of buildings and grounds maintenance. Typically, this application will not present a health concern to students or staff. However, it is the intent of IPM to allow those with special sensitivity to take appropriate precautions: in the case of children, as determined by a parent or guardian.
If you have further questions, please call my office at (630)210-8040.
Sincerely,
Ismael Carrizales

BROOKDALE PTA
Connect with Classmates through Directory Spot!
We are thrilled to be able to once again offer a searchable directory for Brookdale. As your PTA, we strongly believe in bolstering community with our Bobcat families and understand that a current directory is vital to unlocking new friendships and strengthening our connections. We'reproud to have this opportunity to bring us together once again.
To access the Brookdale School Directory, you need to download the DirectorySpot app from your mobile device store. Once you create a password and login, you will be able to search by student name or family name for their contact information. Searching by teacher allows the user to see the students in that teacher's class. Please note: the information in this directory was what each family chose to share with the district during registration. There are some families who opted out of sharing their contact information and have been omitted from this directory. If you would like to be included in the directory please contact the PTA at pta.brookdale@bobcatgmail.com.
