After the conclusion of World War II in the late 1940s, soldiers returned to America as it began to emerge and prosper with new developments. Cities, suburbs, and the economy improved so much that the American Dream was created.

Housing Shortages
In 1945 and 1946, returning veterans faced a severe housing shortages. Because of the overwhelming numbers of families, many lived in very small apartments or houses with relatives. Due to the housing crisis devolupers began coming up with soltuions. William Levitt and Henry Kraiser used an efficient, assembly line method to mass-produce houses.

After World War II ended, Americans turned their attention to their families
and jobs. The economy prospered. New technologies and business ideas created
fresh opportunities for many, and by the end of the decade Americans were
enjoying the highest standard of living in the world. The American dream of a
happy and successful life seemed within the reach of many people.
