Important Updates
Consistency - It's important that we continue to be consistent with the following:* No Phones, Earbuds, or Headphones out during instructional time
* Hallway Supervision - It's important all teachers stand by their doors between the exchange of classes.
* Teach to the Bell - Students should not be lining up at the door toward the end of the period.
- Grading - Reminder that the new grading policy (adopted last spring) states that all teachers need to provide a mid-term and final assessment/project. This is a change for Encore teachers from previous years. This assessment/project could be a project, performance task, assessment, or something you already do. See a principal team member if you have any questions.
Listen, Learn, and Lead
Listen: He will listen to your ideas on how to improve our school for students.
Learn: He will learn with you a new learning tool that you are interested in trying or exploring.
Lead: He will partner with you in leading something that achieves success for every student.

Welcome to Mrs. Toni Crater - Earth/Space Science Teacher
Welcome to Mrs. Durkee - Art Teacher
Heather Durkee has taught high school art for 13 years, all of which were in Center City, Philadelphia. She has a sculpture and ceramics background but also enjoys making and teaching fashion, graphic design, fine art, and architecture. Heather has lived in Philadelphia for over 15 years and grew up in the Midwest (in Columbus, Ohio and Chicago, Illinois). Her husband is also an artist and they love to work on their home and projects together. She enjoys the outdoors as well as arts and culture (especially fine dining when finances allow!)
Welcome to Mrs. Selke - Band Director
I am pleased to announce that we have selected Mrs. Lorraine Selke to serve as the band director for the remainder of the school year. I appreciate everyone’s efforts during our transitions of band director. Mrs. Selke will provide consistency throughout the remainder of the school year as she is an experienced high school band director.
Mrs. Selke comes to us with a strong background in high school music. She served as the West Chester East High School Band Director for eight years. In this role, she led the West Chester East High School Marching Band, Jazz Band, Concert Band, and other ensembles. Mrs. Selke is a clarinet player who attended West Chester University earning her Bachelor’s in Music Education and Masters Degree in Instrumental Conducting. We are excited to have her leading our band this spring.
We would like to thank Ms. Kratz for her leadership of the band over the past weeks and wish her the best in her new endeavors.
Welcome to Mr. Hartman and Longbow
Tech Expo Coming to PGSD
At this time, as in past years, we invite you to register a class, group of students, or a club to participate. Each display should have at least a few students present to explain their work and should also have a teacher-sponsor. This is a K-12 event! To register, please complete this brief online form: STEAM Expo 2017
The sooner you can register the better, even if you don’t have all of the student names yet. It will help us in planning for space and equipment. However, please register no later than Friday, March 3rd. We will need a student count no later than two weeks prior to the event.
We are looking forward to another great evening of showing our amazing and wonderful student work to our parents and the Pottsgrove community!
