Weekly Warrior for Families
April 12, 2024
It's TCAP time in Tennessee...& we are going to ROCK it!
* Students need to bring computers (school issued device) and chargers every day.
* Arrive to school on time each day.
* Get a good sleep and plan to eat breakfast at home before arriving school or get here before 7:30am so you can eat a school provided breakfast.
* Parents, please avoid scheduling appointments (when possible) or dismissing early (or late arrival) during the testing weeks. This disrupts your child's testing schedule, as well as the other students testing.
The TCAP Achievement and End-of-Course (EOC) Tests will be administered online for students in our middle schools this spring. The windows run from April 16-26 for the TCAP
Achievement Test and April 30-May 2 for the EOC Test (for students enrolled in Algebra I and
Geometry). Students will be taking the tests on their KCS issued Chromebooks, so students must
bring their devices fully charged on test days. Students cannot test on a personally owned
device. To help prepare, students should bring their devices daily from now until the end of the
school year. In addition, if your school-issued Chromebook needs repair, you should have already let your homeroom teacher know.

Heads up for our rising 7th grade families (current 6th graders)
Attention Parents of Rising 7th grade Students!
All children must show proof of a Tdap booster before entering 7th grade. Tetanus-diphtheria-pertussis booster (Tdap) - evidence of one Tdap dose given before 7th grade entry (administered at or after age 10) is required regardless of Td history. Please get this turned in to the counseling office or main office BEFORE the first day of school for the 24-25 school year. 7th graders that do not turn this in will not be allowed to attend school until we have this - absences will be unexcused.

Food bags are offered every other week. If there is a need and your child is not bringing these home, please call the office or contact Robin Kerkhoff to get on the distribution list.
If your child is in need of gently used clothing, please let them know to visit Mrs. Kerkhoff in the office. She can assist in gathering items for them. Also, KCS has a Family Resource Center (FRC) that will assist families with a variety of needs.
Clothes closet needs: At this time we are mostly in need of male clothing - sweatpants/joggers, athletic shorts, socks, tennis shoes, underwear (men's size XS, small, medium - we do not need size large). You can drop these items off at the office.

Yearbook
David Flanary here, adviser of Sevier Middle School’s journalism program. I wanted to reach out to you with some information about the 2023-2024 yearbook.
This time, we are partnering with Jostens to produce a 100-page, full-color, hardback yearbook to celebrate the memories students will make. Yearbooks will cost $30.00; customizing the yearbook with a student's name will cost an additional $8.00.
Every year, we have a large number of students who miss the opportunity to purchase a yearbook because they simply forget to place a pre-order. Ordering early is the best way to secure a copy of the yearbook.
If you’d like to secure your copy of the yearbook, please click here to purchase online.
If you have any questions about this year’s Sevier yearbook, please do not hesitate to reach out to me at dflanary@k12k.com

2nd offense - When a student has a second offense during the current semester, the item will be confiscated for a minimum of ten (10) school days. A parent or guardian must retrieve the confiscated item from the front office.
