WHEN?

SERVICE DESCRIPTION AND ACTIVITIES
The activities proposed in the project allows volunteers to participate in more specific sub-activities related to their interests and abilities.
Three main directions of volunteer service
Activity 1 –
Working with disabled children aged 6 to 18 at Day Care Center for Children with Disabilities. Organizing a variety of outdoor and indoor games, walking, painting, singing, dancing and cognitive therapy. Providing support in their everyday lives. Work therapy, sports and leisure related activities in the day care center for children with disabilities. Accompanying them while going to institutions and other establishments.
Activity 2 –
Working with young people with disabilities aged over 18 at Day Care Center for People with Disabilities. Help and support in orientation, walks in the park, visiting cafés, visiting a library and a museum. Art therapy, dance therapy, work-therapy. Drawing, application, making various works of various natural materials. Rationalization of leisure time and raising of skills and competences.
Activity 3 –
Work in the host organization. Website support, creating a newsletter and a project movie, creating presentations promoting the volunteer service, creating and maintaining a blog, developing and participating in projects such as youth exchanges, trainings and others.
Activity 4 –
Work in elementary school and support for children aged 6 to 12. Rationalization of leisure time, organizing games and sports activities, assistance and support in learning and preparation of school lessons, building of soft skills and competencies. Games and jokes to increase motivation for learning.
Sub-actions in three areas (entertainment, educational and practical) and strive to realize the main objectives:
• Support for disadvantaged groups / people with disabilities
• Support for disadvantaged groups / children from the Roma community
• Promotion of activities / EVS /
• Support for students with school difficulties during afternoon classes.
• To develop areas of information, sensitivity to the topic and the formation of good practice
• Volunteers to build their autonomy
• To give volunteers a new way of life
• To increase self-esteem, self confidence, and its functions
• Providing opportunities for training and education for young people interested in social sphere.
• Work with projects
• Develop communication skills and presentation skills
• Working with youth
• Learn new language
• To discover new culture and new country
• To have fun and to enjoy the project :)
Volunteers will participate in instructive activities, educational services. Their role would be consistent with the opportunities and responsibility. Mission volunteers will always be led by supervisor, the teacher in the school and rehabilitator. Volunteers will have the opportunity to submit their own country and culture by organizing food, exhibitions, slideshow examples. Volunteers will participate in educational activities by helping people with disabilities in the manufacture of pottery, cards, posters and more. Helping children who are lagging behind in school and have difficulty in exempting school material / children from the Roma community /. Together we will organize their time to visit the institutions, cafes, public spaces, galleries, theater, movies and more. Volunteers will support people with disabilities in their daily activities, nutrition, hygiene, dressing, working, walking in the city/park and others. Will participate in festivals and celebrations of the association and the day care center. Volunteers will organize activities during leisure customers - such as painting, music,hiking, and more. Finally, the volunteers will have the opportunity to develop a personal project related activities and objectives of the day care center and the host organization. Organizing volunteers missions will be based on 30 hours per week, 5 days, 6 hours per day including language courses and meeting with the mentor. Volunteers will have holiday/vacation two days a month. Volunteers will always have the accompaniment of Bulgarian and monitors will be integrated into work teams.

INFO ABOUT FOCUS - EUROPEAN CENTER FOR DEVELOPMENT
NGO Focus- European Centre for Development is a non profit association located in Pazardjik (BG) and it is registered according to the decision of the District Court of the city.
The members of the association are specialists/experts and public figures united around the ideas of promoting people’s right to live in a supportive environment, involving youth in public life and strengthening principles of civic responsibility and democracy.
Focus’s range of action covers Pazardjik area and it is guided by a steering committee.
Aims:
1.To create a European community of pupils, teachers and parents that will support the social integration and professional development of adolescents;
2. To cooperate with local authorities in implementing trainings and experiments concerning different social issues on the basis of public interest;
3. To promote solidarity and tolerance among the local public in order to stimulate social cohesion in the European Union;
4. To encourage participation of all citizens in social life and to strengthen the links between local groups, schools, businesses and the Municipality;
5. To involve the youth in activities of personal and social development;
7. To provide activities and organize events aimed at restoring and improving the quality of environment
8. To improve the wellbeing of persons with disabilities, acceptance by their families, and socializing amongst their peers, colleagues, friends, and community in which they live;
9 To establish an environment in which the youth with disabilities can be involved in activities aimed at their future development;
10. to prevent negative social phenomena, such as crime, violent behaviour, drug addiction, prostitution and xenophobia, from spreading amongst the youth;
All the objectives of Focus Association are discussed by a team of specialists and other members of the association, such as teachers, psychologists, social workers, therapists, computer specialists, graphic designers, parents and other members of the community. All work together towards public welfare in cooperation with the local authorities of Pazardjik.
The Target group of the Focus Association includes Bulgarian non profit organizations (NGOs) (operating in all the different areas of the social sector), professionals of education, organizations and institutions working with children with special educational needs (disabled children or children without parental care), schools, kindergartens and NGOs from other parts of the world willing to partner with Bulgarian organizations. This target group also includes teachers, specialists, parents, young people, people with disabilities and other citizens supporting the mission of the association.
Team:
All the objectives of the Association “Focus - European Center for Development” are being discussed by a team of specialists, by the members of the association - teachers, psychologists, social workers, therapeutist, computer specialists, graphic designers, parents, public. All the members work together on the same cause of public welfare and cooperate with local authorities and several offices in the territory of Pazardjik.
Target group:
Target group with which the Association “Focus - European Center for Development” works include Bulgarian non-profit organizations (NGOs) operating in each of the areas of social sector, education and NGOs from other parts of the world, willing to cooperate with Bulgaria. Organizations and institutions working with children with special educational needs, disabled, children without parental care, and mainstream schools and kindergartens. Teachers, specialists, parents, supporters, youth, persons with disabilities, public and other citizens supporting the mission of the Association.
Activites in the School
- Improve the access of Roma children to quality early childhood education and care
- Facilitate self-employment through access to finance for marginalised communities
- Combat discrimination against Roma people through awareness raising campaigns
- Improve evaluation methods of Roma integration projects/programmes aiming at evidence-based policy
