Inspire Excellence
Dear Families,
This next week (Tuesday) your child will be taking the Reading STAAR test. To enable your child to give his or her best performance, please consider the following suggestions:
● Attendance is extremely important unless your child is ill.
● Avoid removing your child or scheduling any appointments on this day.
● Encourage your child to do his or her best, but do not exert excessive pressure that could create anxiety.
● Be certain that your child has enough rest the night before testing.
● Encourage your child to eat a nutritious breakfast.
● Begin your child’s day on a cheerful note.
● Encourage your child to bring a water bottle and a couple of healthy snacks (preferably unpackaged and put into plastic baggies to cut down on packaging noises in the testing environment). Teachers encourage bringing peppermints that are unwrapped and ready or tic-tacs to eat to help improve focus.
