Join us at 4-H Camp!
Summer is the time for camp! Youth in northwest Minnesota have three options for 4-H overnight camps this summer. Youth are invited to attend all three or to choose one that best suits your individual needs!
At 4-H overnight camp, campers will discover and create cool things, participate in hands-on educational activities, and make great friends from around the region. 4-H Camps are led and guided by trained youth leaders and adults who supervise all activities and ensure that camp is the best possible experience it can be.
4-H camps are a great opportunity to meet new friends, try new activities in a safe environment and explore 4-H project areas through hands-on learning! Register today for a 4-H Overnight Camp experience. For details on NW camps visit the links below!
Cloverbud Rule Update
The Minnesota 4-H Youth Development Cloverbud policy creates a uniform set of rules for participation to maintain developmental appropriateness and safety for our youngest 4-H members. A rule related to Cloverbuds and animals has been updated.
When Cloverbuds and animals are together at a 4-H program, families may now choose one of two acceptable ways to guide and monitor involvement in non-mounted activities:
The responsible person is in control of the animal with the Cloverbud at their side.
The Cloverbud is in control of the animal with the responsible person at their side to assist or take control of the animal when needed or as directed by staff, volunteers, or show managers.
In the horse project, the second option does not apply to mounted activities. When a Cloverbud is mounted on a horse, the horse must always have a lead line and be under the control of the responsible person.
Cloverbud families may choose either option. Either way, Cloverbud exhibitions will continue to be non-competitive. Complete Cloverbud rules can be found in the Cloverbud information sheet.
2024 Shooting Sports Instructor Training Nearby
To run a county or multi-county shooting sports and wildlife program, instructors must be certified by Minnesota 4-H. Leader certification training is designed to cover the essential knowledge and rules to become a certified 4-H county instructor. The training is designed for adults and youth (grades 9+) that lead or would like to lead training in shooting sports or wildlife. This training meets the 4-H project leaders' requirements for certification and recertification. A link will be sent to you to complete a newly designed online course. If you have completed the old Steps 1-2 since 2020, you do not need to complete this updated pre-work. Learn more and register.
April 20 - Wadena (archery, rifle/pistol, and wildlife) - Registration deadline: April 7. April 27 - Mora (archery, muzzleloading, rifle/pistol, shotgun, and wildlife) - Registration deadline: April 14.
Becker County 4-H is in need of a Wildlife Instructor. If you are interested let Elliott know and sign up for this training. All shooting sports disciplines (including archery) need wildlife education. Wildlife education has to be taught by a certified wildlife instructor.
