Dear Lake Forest Community High School,
Happy Friday! Three senior nights in a row this past week with more on the horizon next week–it is certainly, that (most wonderful) time of the year!
As we know, the safety and security of our students remains our primary responsibility. With that written, and with sports in full swing, parents and students should remain mindful of the speed limits, speed bumps, etc. at West Campus. Security has observed a number of vehicles speeding through the parking lot, failing to stop at stop signs, etc. Please help us keep both of our beautiful campuses safe by adhering to traffic regulations and rules.
This past week, we “launched” the Varsity Tutors platform–information is at the bottom of this Fanscout. This is 24/7 live, chat-based tutoring, and students can access it through the Clever platform. Varsity Tutors also has numerous other on-demand videos and resources, so I encourage you to partner with your Scout to check it out! We will take feedback on the tool to guide decision making about these types of tools in the future!
Finally, at the D67/D115 Joint Board Coffee, there were a number of questions and concerns about technology use that were brought forward. As you are aware, I have been on a technology crusade for several of my past Fanscouts, encouraging our parents to stay involved and engaged. As many of you might be aware, I am a practitioner who is always learning, reading, and researching about challenging topics–it is a passion of mine. For your consideration, I personally enjoyed this article from APA: Social Media Brings Benefits and Risks to Kids. Psychology Can Help Identify a Path Forward.
As we head into the weekend, I hope everyone takes some time to rest, relax, and just be.
Your proud principal,
Erin

LFHS Alumni Announces Employment and Mentoring Opportunities
At Lake Forest High School, we are committed to supporting all graduates after they leave our halls. As our alumni discover their professional passions, we want to connect them with potential employers and mentors who can offer both opportunity and insight.
We are asking businesses and nonprofits, local, out of state, and abroad, to consider submitting available employment (permanent and temporary) and internship positions to be posted on our LFHS ALUMNI EMPLOYMENT OPPORTUNITIES WEB PAGE, housed here on the *Lake Forest High School website.
We also recognize great value in pairing more established professionals with young alumni, as well as alumni who are considering new professional paths. If you are willing to serve as an LFHS ALUMNI MENTOR to alums who are interested in learning more about your field, please insert your contact information below.
The LFHS ALUMNI Employment and Mentor web page is set to go live during April 2024.
We appreciate the ways in which many of you have partnered with LFHS in the past, and we are excited to provide these forums for the mutual benefit of our alumni, businesses, and nonprofits.
If you have any questions, please contact us at lfhsalumni@lfschools.net.
*Please note that the Employment and Mentor Webpages, while intended for LFHS ALUMNI use, can be accessed by the wider public. Lake Forest High School and LFHS ALUMNI are not responsible for monitoring connections outside of these forums, and will not be held liable for any unforeseen outcomes, professional or otherwise.
