A Message from the Principal
May 1, 2020
Dear Longmont Estates Families-
I want to sincerely thank everyone for the support you’ve shown us during these challenging times. I am so proud of the commitment our staff, students, and families have shown to student learning. It wouldn’t be possible without a dedicated school community!
As you read in Dr. Haddad’s April 20th email, our district is following Governor Polis’ orders that in-person instruction is canceled for the remainder of the year. We will continue our rigorous online instruction through the end of the school year. Thursday, May 21st will be the last day of online instruction for elementary students across the district.
We believe that it is important to continue to recognize important milestones our students have reached. Therefore, we will be holding a virtual 5th grade continuation ceremony on Wednesday, May 20th at 1:30 pm. We will also be holding our Kindergarten graduation ceremony virtually on Friday, May 15th at 2:00 pm. In addition to our regular speeches and recognitions, we will be creating a photo slideshow for both of these events. We do need to obtain your permission to include your child’s image. Please take a moment to fill out the permission slip on Infinite Campus. Please click here for directions. Watch for additional information about these events coming soon.
We will begin the process of student checkout and material pick up between June 8th-26th. In an effort to comply with social distancing regulations, we will have student belongings bagged, labeled and ready for pick up. Items will include class photos and yearbooks, if purchased in advance. If your child participated in 100 Mile Club, their certificate and earned prizes will also be in the bag. If your student has medication and you need it before the June pick up date, please contact the office and we will make arrangements for pick up. Otherwise, it will be available on your scheduled materials pick up day. If you prefer to leave the medication locked up at school so that it is ready for the fall, that is ok as well.
Your student does not need to be with you for the pick up, and we ask you to stay in your vehicle as you drive through the Hug-and-Go Lane and staff will assist you there. To help us keep the line moving efficiently, it would be helpful if you would write your child(ren)’s name and teacher(s) on a large piece of paper and display it on your dashboard.
We are asking that you pick up materials during the following dates/times. If you have children in multiple grade levels, please choose the grade level date that works best for you.
Monday, June 8th
8:00-11:00am Preschool, Ms. Bonial, and Ms. Farquhar’s classes

Thursday, June 11th

Please bring any library books you have at home (We will check in any library books we find in your child’s desk, so you don’t need to worry about those.) If your family checked out an iPad at the district resource center, please keep it over the Summer and we will communicate with you in the Fall about how/when to return it. If your child will not be returning to the district in the Fall, please return their iPad on your scheduled date.
Again, thank you for your continued partnership and support as we navigate these challenging times. I am proud of what we have accomplished together. We look forward to finishing the year strong. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact the school directly.
Sincerely,
Traci Haley
Principal
