Balls!
Ball Study Unit:
Time is rolling by so quickly here in PK3! We are almost at the end of our Ball Study Unit but the fun of learning still continues. Our morning conversations are becoming more complex as the children recall and apply their knowledge to our daily questions, such as “Can you make your body into a ball?” Our experiments are also becoming more interesting! This week we learnt about force and velocity as we experimented with a wrecking ball. It was great to hear the children talking about how they could pull the ball back higher to make it go faster and hit harder.
During Small Groups, we began learning about Patterns. Patterns are all around us, from the clothing we wear to the repeating patterns found in nature and everyday routine. Patterning is also a basic math skill upon which many mathematical concepts are based.
- We began by teaching Movement Patterns in Circle Time. Clap-Snap-Clap-Snap...
- When lining up, we are making People Patterns: boy-girl-boy-girl
- During Small Groups we learned how to read, copy and extend patterns.
This is just the beginning!
Enjoy!

Culture Box
Throughout the week we would like to invite children to talk about their culture and share item from their culture. If you are interested in coming and joining your child, please send me an email and we can coordinate a day and time.
For this activity we would like to us a Culture Box. A Culture Box is any container filled with information and items that represent a specific country. Please send their Culture Box as soon as possible and we will keep them in a special place in our class until next week. Here are some ideas of things you can place in them:
